Long-lost children's book

Hi, this is one of those threads where someone is trying to identify a dimly-remembered book. As is customary, I don’t remember the title. I don’t even think I had the whole book – I think I found part of it somewhere, and kept it because it was charming & pretty old.

It was about a cat. The cat liked to walk on the rooftops and sing. He sang songs to Moon Mama, the moon, who was fond of him and would speak indulgently to him. I remember that the stars were referred to as little mice.

That’s about all I got.

I have looked and looked on the Intarwebs, but there are a lot of children’s books about cats and moons!

Can’t help, I’m afraid, but you might want to try a group called ‘What’s the name of that book??’ over at goodreads.com.

There’s a few people there who are good with children’s books.

This link might help. My sister and I have used it several times and never failed to come away eventually with an answer.

Thanks, Surok and Baker. I’ll give them both a try.
