Angie and Billy Bob, Lisa Marie and Nicolas (and Michael), J Lo and Ben-- no wait, that hasn’t happened yet-- these didn’t make me start thinking of long lasting celebrity couples. It was Valerie and Eddie breaking up that got me thinking about the couples who last. A few supercouples jumped right into my head:
Jessica Tandy and Hume Cronyn-- 52 years (their daughter’s name is Tandy Cronyn. I just found that out.)
Ruby Dee and Ozzie Davis-- 54 years.
Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward-- 44 years.
Which of the younger couples do you think will make it that far?
Dan Ackryod and Donna Dixon-- 19 years. She doesn’t really act any more though.
Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell-- I don’t know how long they’ve been together, but it has been an awful long time.
Kate Capshaw and Steven Speilberg-- 11 years.
Who else?
As long as you’re picking nits here,Lunt and Fontanne were hardly a Hollywood couple.Broadway was their forte.
Matter of fact the only movie I saw them in together is a terribly hammy looking 30s movie, about,IIRC,an acting couple. What a stretch.
Charlton Heston has been married to Lydia Clarke since March of 1944. That’s 58 years and counting. While Lydia isn’t an actress, I’m just impressed that their marriage has lasted this long.
No one’s mentioned Ozzy and Sharon yet? They’ve been married since the early 80s. 82 or 83, I think. With all the crap she’s put up with, she is definitely a stand-by-your-man kinda woman. And from watching the series, I think she’s Ozzy’s entire life. He wouldn’t know what to do without her. I think they’ll be together 'till death do they part.
