Another act whose name sounds like Johnny Gurtz is “Ollie Murs”. Does he have any tracks like the OP described? I realize he’s more known in Europe but the OP’s origin is unclear.

This place never fails to amaze me. In fact, taking a little over a day to identify something from the vaguest of descriptions is on the long side for this place - most of the time someone grabs it within an hour.
It’s been over 10 years since my 'ID this song thread" and still no one has identified it. Google the lyrics “happy anniversary to the one that got away” and the only match is that thread.
