has been going since January 15. I’m new here, but that seems like it must be approaching some kind of record for longevity. Have there been any other threads that were longer lasting?
In the past, in the way way long ago(on AOL), there were threads that lasted much, much longer.
This will be moved to ATMB soon… but Jan 15 is a relatively short lived thread as all things go… for instance, “THE” LOTR thread has been around since Oct 10, 2002. I ain’t gonna link it, everyone knows where it is.
I think that the “Guy Stuff” and " Do They Make PVC Pipe Big Enough To Shoot A Goat Out Of" threads each took about 4 to 6 month to play out.
The “Guy Stuff” thread got so big that it crashed the UBB software that the board ran on at the time.

I know of a thread that got only one reply, and it was more then 19 months after the OP. I wouldn’t say it was a terribly active thread, but that’s got to be a record of some sort.
I first posted to this thread in GQ in September 2000. I just posted to it again a few minutes ago. Two-and-a-half years is a pretty good record if I say so myself.

GOM, if you could clarify – do you mean the longest lasting thread overall or the longest lasting one that has been posted to with some regularity over the years? Anyone could do a search, find the oldest thread they saw and bump it, and there you go, a thread that lasts almost 4 years. (IANAM, but I suspect that this is NOT recommended.) If you want to find the longest lasting thread that’s been posted to regularly, there’s going to be a number of factors to consider. At any rathe, DC Lunch Bunch has been posted to pretty regularly for more than two years now.
