Look at this dipshit grinning at the dead!

Well thank you Doghouse. I was honestly curious as to whether the Indonesian government had been doing anything, or if indeed it had just been a matter of being outsmarted. Lola didn’t answer that question, simply jumped in telling everyone to fuck off.

Your thoughts about Eastern mentality towards terrorism is helpful, and this certainly should be a wake up call to those nations.

P.S. I wouldn’t exactly say that good men are doing nothing, would you?

I’ve either been enlightened by this, or whooshed. I can’t decide which. You mean expressing sorrow, grief, anger, etc is unnatural to this person, yet he did conspire to bomb a nightclub. (?) If that’s not an expression of feeling I don’t know what is - how come he got that one right?

When they were cleaning up the bodies, logically, it must have been laugh riot. I do have a slight problem with this due to cultural differences.

The gist I get is that the guy was being an ass, everyone around him got embarressed because of it, and in that culture laughter can be a sign of embarrasment.

well that’s reasonable. ok, thanks.

I post in the pit. so what?

is this your best attempt at a flame? Really?

Once again, you resort to cheap insult instead of proper facts to defend your opinion.

I think that sums your arguement up.

People shouldn’t boycott Bali in revenge.

However, what people SHOULD do is behave rationally. If Bali is recognized to be more dangerous to western tourists than previously thought, then I would expect less tourists to go there. And that’s the way it should be. Feeback in action.

A misguided attempt to ignore these these issues to avoid ‘punishing’ the people does nothing but allow them to ignore the consequences of a terrorist attack on their soil, and makes it more likely that they won’t take the steps necessary to solve the problem.

This has nothing to do with the religious makeup of the population, either. If Canada was lax in rounding up terrorists who said they were going to kill Americans, and as a result there were a number of killings of Americans visiting Canada, then I would fully expect our tourist industry to suffer for it. And if a bunch of Canada-supporting Americans vowed to come visit anyway, they would be doing us a disservice by disconnecting our government’s policies from their consequences.

The same logic applies to misguided campaigns to ‘buy American’. You want to help America, buy the best product you can. Make rational choices. Propping up non-competitive industries helps no one.

So I take it you’re not in favour of trade subsidies and duties then?

I’d just like to point out that while the current investigation into the Bali bombings is being pursued under Indonesian law, the investigation itself is being carried out jointly between the Indonesian and Australian authorities (on Friday, the AFP Commissioner quoted 110 Australian investigators being in Indonesia with more on the way over). If media reports are accurate, other nations (the US, Sweden and Germany according to the press) also have their own investigation and intelligence teams in Indonesia keeping an eye on the investigation.

If the effort to root out terrorists since 12 October has been in any way deficient, then it’s time for the international law enforcement agencies currently present in Indonesia to say so. The AFP is not expressing displeasure with the handling of the investigation (although the commissioner has said that the Indonesian authorities have made more information publicly available than the AFP would have) as a whole, and Australia has added four more groups to its terrrorist list since the bombings.
