Anyone know of a good relatively recent biography of John Dickinson (the founding father not the author). The last general biography of him I can find was written in 1891.
It looks like that is only one. You try the references on his Wikipedia page. None of are biographies that specifically about Dickinson, but they might have the information you are looking for.
Or
Jacobson, David Louis. John Dickinson and the Revolution in Pennsylvania, 1764-1776. Berkeley, Calif.: University of California Press, 1965; Calvert Jane E., “Liberty Without Tumult: Understanding the Politics of John Dickinson,” Pennsylvania Magazine of History and Biography, 131 (July 2007): 233-62.

I saw Calvert wrote a book titled Quaker Constitutionalism and the Political Thought of John Dickinson. But from the descriptions it’s not really a biography of Dickinson as its main subject is Quaker involvement in revolutionary era politics. I suspect similar may be true of John Dickinson: Conservative Revolutionary by Milton Flower, John Dickinson Sounds the Alarm by Florence Scull, and the Jacobson work you mentioned. The Life and Character of John Dickinson by Robert Richards is only 38 pages long so it’s obviously not an in-depth biography. So my best prospect looks like John Dickinson: American Revolutionary Statesman by Lionel Fredman - but the only information I have about this book is its title.
i’m looking for a book about neurology. it had bits in it about neural development, and evolution…
had an orange cover…
i was leafing through it in the library but decided to get it the next trip around and that was… 8 months ago. i had completely forgotten about it until now, and as luck would have it, the branch it was at is closed for renovation. instead of going on an exhaustive cross-county trip looking for a book (that may be checked out, or even locked up in storage) i’ve come to the SDMB. can you send me some recs? it’s not a neurology text book and def written for the layman. the orange cover is the only thing that popped up in my mind.
books i know it’s definitely NOT - your inner fish, and the man who mistook his wife for a hat because i’ve read those already.
