Looking for a customizable USA map to put on a web page

Don’t know exactly what to call it but here’s the thing…

I belong to a group of vintage baseball card collectors from around the country and I wanted to put up on our site a USA map with “pins” noting where everyone is located.

If you can handle programming simple javascript on an html page, look at this: Microsoft Learn: Build skills that open doors in your career, specifically the “show a map >> show a specific map” entry & the "show pushpins >> add a default pushpin " entry. Note the “source code” tab.

It is cut-and-paste simple to put a map on a page, and only a little harder to add hard-code to place each push pin. A real system with a server-side database of push pin locations would be a lot more work, but for a simple map with a couple dozen pins that don’t change much, this’ll do ya in 10-20 minutes tops.

This is exactly what it’s designed for.

You could also take a look at using a ‘Frappr’ map here: http://www.frappr.com/

Every message board I go to has one of these it seems.

Well…almost every one

Thanks!!! Those both seem to be what I’m looking for… I just can’t seem to make them work very easily. I’ll have to experiment some more.

Question… looks like Frappr is a way for guests to add themselves to a site. I want something that I control and it looks like Virtual Earth Interactive might work better for that. Agreed???
