looking for a dive bar in A2

where students fear to tread.

Lets see… some places where there aren’t many students include Del Rio on Washington, The Cavern Club (downstairs) on 1st street, Leopold’s on South Main has a lot of graduate students but isn’t at all divey. The Bird of Paradise is a jazz club. The bar at Grizzley Peak is also upscale ut nearly undergrad-free.

mmmm…

let’s face it, there’s students everywhere and they tend to be attraacted to the divey places ( like Dominicks) but stay away from the upper end.

Anyone feel like translating? What the heck is the OP talking about?

Well, if you have any sort of decent transportation, just head out (South-)East on Washtenaw toward Ypsi.

She’s looking for a place to drink in/near Ann Arbor (MI, site of University of Michigan), where she won’t find lots of students under foot. Given that UofM has multiple tens of thousands of students and Ann Arbor is not a large city, that is difficult.

Frazier’s wouldn’t be a bad choice. Popular with Rugby players, but otherwise too far for most students. Gets real crowded on game days, tho.

Banfields (original or west) is big with the softball crowd. Not many students there either.

But if you really want a dive bar, go to the Eight Ball. Their “special” when I used to frequent that place was a hot dog and a bottle of Black Label for $1.75. Pinball machines, pool table, and a jukebox with a lot of thrash music. That place is a real craphole, which is why I always loved it so much.
