Looking for a good biography of Iggy Pop

For a niece who is writing a paper for her senior English class. Any recommendations?

It’s not exactly a biography, but Legs Mcneil and Gillian McCain edit a great oral history of punk called Please Kill me. It’s a great read, and the Stooges are highlighted pretty well.

I was going to mention the same book as post above.
Then I was going to say, Iggy Pop for an English Paper? My how school has changed. Beats the hell out of *Wuthering Heights * though.

Have your friend scare up a copy of Danny Sugerman’s memoir, Wonderland Avenue. At the age of thirteen Sugerman was hired by The Doors as an office gopher, and eventually progressed to more visible and responsible positions. Branching out after a few years into promotion and talent management, one of his first clients was Iggy himself. Being a memoir, this book obviously is mostly given over to his troubled youth, budding music-industry career, and heroin habit; still there’s quite a bit of information on Iggy himself. It’s interesting reading and not without some surprises, for instance that the Ig went through a major transvestite phase.
