I drive a nice 2002 Camry. Its a sensible if somewhat boring car that has been very reliable. But Iv’e noticed that its much louder on the highway than my wife’s even more boring minivan. I’d always thought that the Camry’s were quiet cars but I don’t know if I think its loud now because my wife’s car is so comparably quieter or if I just have some “loud” tires.
I’m thinking about getting new tires on the Camry (the old ones can go anothor 10+K miles so this is a decision of comfort only.
Do any dopers know of some known “quiet” highway tires?
Do you have a favorite quiet brand?
Would a tire dealer know which tires are quieter?
Would undercoating the car help keep out road noise?
Do places still perform undercoating? If so, what’s a typical cost on a Camry?
Thanks in advance to anybody who can answer my questions? I’m traveling about 2K in two weeks and I’d like to take some action on this before I go.
