Looking for: A short story that ends something like this:

“I saw it. I saw the little house.” (Or possibly “I seen it…” etc.)

I’m thinking southern writer. Eudora Welty? I also considered Katherine Mansfield, but I don’t think so. I just can’t remember.

The gist of the story was that a rich child got a dollhouse as a present, and the poor child was invited to see it, but wasn’t considered worthy. Or something like that. Race may have been an issue.

It was Katherine Mansfield. The Doll’s House.

Damn it! I actually knew this one!

Yep, me too. As I recall, the little girl’s name was Kezia, and I think what she saw was “the little light” – I could be wrong; Grade 12 was about 30 years ago…

Didja like the part when Nora declares her independence from Torvald ?
