Looking for a song about a guy and some bricks

My roommate had this song when I was in college, and I want to find it again. The song had an Irish folk song feel to it. It was about a guy explaining why he couldn’t come into work that day.

He was a bricklayer, and he needed to get some bricks down from his job site. In order to do this, he rigged up a block and tackle, but forgot that the bricks were much heavier than he was, and so they come flying down, he hits the pulley, and falls down on the bricks. That is why he can’t come into work.

This song was really funny, and I really appreciate it if you could help me find it. Thanks.

Mines Mystique

Well, I found it. Thanks for anyone that may have searched. If you’re interested, it is called Why Paddy’s not at work today, by Alan Kelly. Enjoy!

I’m glad we could be here to … uh, not help.

Sir. Dear sir, you know I’d love to represent you.
But sir, Bricker is serving a greater master.

'Pon my life I trusted that twine
(lacking quite in proper disclaim)
and lie now in bed, listening to the rain
typing out the reason I lie lame.

Sir. Dear sir, you must remember when I said,
This Bricker needs some home renovation.

Certainly one should be careful
(we know the fate of the coyote)
a ton of bricks can be quite tearful
come crashing down in calamotee.

But the price shall be returned
(Bricker is not to blame, oh no sir)

*wonders why he thought “twine” and “rain” rhyme… :smack: *
