A short show, commercial style, about Sesame Street. It was produced prior to the first broadcast of SS, so pre-November 1969. It showed a bunch of Muppets in business clothes discussing a new educational show for kids. They are trying to come up with a name for the show.
One of the Muppets says: {to the effect of] “The show is for kids that can’t read or write?”
Then suggest the show be called “HEY, STUPID!”.
It’s funny. This has to be somewhere on the web.
I’m also looking for non-Sesame Street/Muppet Show videos of Muppets like Rowlf and such being used in old 50’s/60’s commercials.
Man, Kermit’s voice just sounds…off in that pitch video. Wondered if maybe Henson had given Kermit to someone else while he did Rowlf, but…nope, looked it up and he did both voices (Oz did the puppeteering for Rowlf).
Guess Kermit’s voice just evolved a whole lot more than Rowlf’s did. (Which, I suppose makes perfect sense, since Rowlf’s closer to Henson’s natural voice.)
Did that pitch take place before or after Sesame Street was already established? Because it’s a lot funnier when you already know what Sesame Street already is…
