And I’m not quite sure of the name. It may begin with M, and the ending sounds something like “luc.” It is supposedly about a 20 minute Metro ride to the city center, and it is reputed to be a quite nice place to live.
Sorry, that’s pretty sketchy information to go on, but does anyone have any ideas?
–Impossible. Melun is at least 50 km south of Paris. There is no Metro line that goes that far (not even a regional RER). In fact it barely qualifies as a suburb.
Having checked the list of French communes in Île-de-France, I found exactly none that contain the string “luc”. It’s possible that the computer is lying to me for some reason, but, still, it is unlikely that you are remembering right in that regard. There are 136 communes that start with M, and here they are. I didn’t count communes that start with “Le” or “La” or “Les”, and perhaps I should have, but I don’t feel like going back. If you can remember more of the name, I can search again.
As all artists know, you can see the Eiffel Tower from everywhere in Paris, even from basement windows and other locations that do not face it. The only exception to this rule is the view from the restaurant at the top of the Eiffel Tower.
What is your point of reference? How will you know if someone gets the right one? Do you even know which side of the river it is?
BTW Paris doesn’t really have suburbs, in the American sense. But if it’s on the Metro, here check it out for yourself. My guess would be the Marais, but of course I think it’s the only place is Paris that’s “quite a nice place to live”
Parisian here, the only close to Paris suburbs starting with a M I could think of are:
-Melun
-Montreuil (doubt that would be it, it’s way east, and ET is in the west)
-Meudon
BTW, you cant see the Eiffel Tower from everywhere around Paris, I live there, and I sure can’t see it from my neighborhood. If you live in the last levels of a tall building you could though (if your window faces the right direction of course).
P.S: maybe Menilmontant, since it’s on a hill, you would have more chances of seeing the Eiffel Tower (but it’s not two syllables, and it’s IN Paris)
