Looking for an article in French bemoaning the restaurant/hotel industry in France

Hi

I’m looking for any recent articles in French from quality newspapers bemoaning/lamenting the restaurant/hotel industry in France. I’ve heard that the French media have been covering it a lot recently, but I haven’t found any reviews about it, except for individual blog posts. I hope someone can help me with this. I look forward to your feedback.

That’s an intriguing topic.

I’m not sure how La Tribune ranks as a newspaper in terms of quality, but these articles seem reasonably sourced:

Toujours dans le rouge, l’hôtellerie a besoin d’une “vraie politique touristique” : This article mentions a decrease in tourists visiting France, and attributes most of that to France being perceived as an unsafe or undesirable destination due to terrorist attacks, strikes, and other criminal activity.

Comment France peut-elle rester la première destination touristique ? : This article provides suggestions as to how France could increase tourist numbers, such as updating outdated offerings, improving value for money and tourist security, and increasing investment in training young people who want to work in the hotel industry.

We went to France last fall (first trip there) It was wonderful, but crowds would have kept us away. We went because we figured it would be less popular now, and hoping for some deals at hotels. Lower prices would help, Paris is not a cheap city.

Thanks xnylder. The articles below (crummy food and fraud) capture some of the sentiments I’ve been hearing. I should point out that travel experiences can vary wildly depending on how one travels. I tend to fly more and stay in hotels like Sofitel. If like a lot of airbnb and bookings.com customers looking for cheaper accommodation (under 100 euros a night) I presume that the level of service would be rather undesirable.
