evil laugh And when he gets tired of “freeze”, you can play “Statue.” Which is exactly the same except you have to strike silly pose and hold it. Tires 'em out even quicker.
Why yes, I *did *babysit three hyperactive brothers at once all summer long when I was 15. How did you guess?
Hmm, my child’s Asperger’s and ADD and has always had trouble going to sleep as well. I’ve always wondered about it, maybe he’s just a night owl, maybe it’s from when I worked weird shifts when he was a toddler, now that he’s older and medicated I figure it’s his stimulant. He takes (what seems to be an enormous dosage of) Clonidine nightly or he’d never get to sleep at all, he’s actually stayed awake all night twice when we were away from his meds.
Weird how none of his doctors ever mentioned any Asperger’s connection with sleep issues, his prescribing doc just prescribe Clonidine matter-of-factly explaining that most kids in his practice who use morning stimulants need it.
It got a lot easier for us both when I stopped expecting sleep at bedtime and he was old enough to read, as long as he’s quiet and in bed he can amuse himself with a book or magazine until he eventually falls asleep, I turn out the lights later when I go to bed.
