Looking for travel shows, tv or youtube

When I was a kid some 10, 15 years ago, I used to watch the Travel channel, there was this show whose name I can’t remember where they always showed beautiful places like the Carribean islands and I think that they didn’t even talk much, I’m not sure if I even understood English back then, but anyway they just showed a lot of beaches, tropical forests and cool stuff like that, but I can’t seem to find it anymore.

Today whenever I turn to Travel channel, I see some fat red guy eating all the damn time, even literally now when I switched to the channel it was him again, it’s either that, or some couples moving/redecorating, current program guide says that after 3 hours of that show, there’ll be something about RV campers and something about fishing, but nothing actually about traveling and showing different countries.

So…does anyone maybe remember the name of the show I talked about in the start or has some other suggestions? I’m looking for a show where they will show a new country every time, islands, mountains and all that stuff, I am not interested in food or the camera following a single person/couple.

Don’t know the show you used to see, but check out Planet Earth on BBC.

Here’s a list of current and previous Travel Channel programming. Anything ring a bell?

Was the show Globe Trekker?

I’ve never had an interest in travel but I used to watch these shows all the time on PBS. They were really fun! I see on the Wikipedia article that they were on the Travel Channel too.

My wife loves to watch that channel HGTV where they do shopping for house and home renos. However, there is one House hunters International, which does show a lot about whatever International destination they are looking in.

There’s another one where they look for houses on the beach or on islands.

Bear with me:

In the '80s, my family and I used to watch this VHS travel series we borrowed from our local library. The host’s name was Laura McKenzie and the series was nicely done (Unfortunately, I don’t remember the name and haven’t been able to find it). Apparently, she is still around and still doing travel shows. Maybe you saw her doing her thing back then.

IMDB entry:

I like Globe Trekker, although some hosts are better than others. Rick Steves’ Europe is always pretty good, and Savvy Traveler with Rudy Maxa is similar but goes further afield.

JakeRS, is the show you’re thinking of Sunrise Earth? I loved that show. There was no talking at all, nor was there music. Just beautifully shot video of rain forests, beaches, rice paddies, Venetian canals, and other spectacular places.

Here’s one of their episodes featuring a Costa Rican rain forest and waterfall.

If not, that’s a good one. They’re available on YouTube but anything other than short features need a subscription.
