Here’s a summary of regulatory activity in the US, Europe, and China. Some attempts are being made to prevent or mitigate the worst excesses of current AI. Europe seems to be in the forefront of actually doing something.

People continue to be shockingly, depressingly credulous about AI generated images, many of which go viral from some AI Facebook groups I follow. The latest ones to spread like wildfire are the last Irish Greyhound:

To be clear, the original creators are posting them in AI-specific groups, never trying to convince people that they are real. But others share the images different places and people fall for it. The people in the AI groups, of course, think it is hilarious and when an image goes viral they make all sorts of images mocking the original. Currently at the “cursed AI group” we are making hundreds of old photos from Kandahar. Here are a few of mine:

Wow. I really liked that book (and series) back in my youth and that’s just a…wow of a cover. My cover was entirely more reasonable, with Morgaine, her horse and barely portrayed Vanye at least being fairly close:
