Newspaper headline: “Carrot shortage. Rabbits leaving the state in droves.”
Bugs: “But I don’t even have a drove!”
I use this line where possible!

And how about the Abbot & Costello mice?
“Ohh…I’m a baaad boy.”
Many are. Looney Toons Golden Collection Vol. 3 is being released on October 25th.
And it does contain Beanstalk Bunny and Hillbilly Hare, so the world is that much better.
“And the circus penguin that Bugs takes back to Antarctica never fails to crack me up”.
**
“…oooooooooooh, I’m dyin’!”**
I know I just threw them in as favorites – sorry for the misunderstanding.
Pen-gu-wine – the way they played with language was the best!
Thank you! It’s been bugging me since I posted that.
And the Abbott & Costello cats.
“Ohh…I’m a baaad pussycat.”
Who were those two incredibly polite mice?
“Would you happen to have a pin about your person?”
I believe Stan Freberg did the voice of one of them.
Regards,
Shodan
Dust off your credit card. Looney Tunes collections. I recommend the Golden Collections. Apparently Vol. 3 is coming out next week and I still have to get Vol. 2. I hate having to catch up.
Sheesh! I didn’t notice The Tooth’s post. :smack:
“Pardon me, but could you spare a buck for a fellow America-”
“Here! He’s yours! He’s all yours!”
I’m sorry to hijack, but I saw Nutty Bunny’s location, and that’s exactly where my boss is right now: under his desk, napping! What are the odds?
You know, I have a copy of “Coal Black & De Sebben Dwarfs”, and it isn’t racist at all. It portrays cartoon black people. I saw a documentary on WB cartoons, and apparently all the black musicians who supplied the soundtrack were totally OK with it. They didn’t think it denigrated them at all, otherwise they would have objected. I don’t think that if it was made available now, people would freak out. But you never know these days.
Some are.
I’ve been known to use Bug’s “What a maroon!” comment on many occasions.
My personal favorite characters are Pepe LePeu and Foghorn Leghorn although they appear a little later in the forties. Ah, say! Ah, say, boy! That there is a chicken!
There’s the scene where Bugs dresses up as a mobster :
Bugs : “It’s curtains for you, Mugsy ! Curtains !”
< whips out some curtains, sticks them on Mugsy’s head >
Mugsy “Ohhh, they’re adorable !”
Not mice, they were the Goofy Gophers Mac and Tosh, and yep, Freberg played Tosh.
The one that consistently cracks me up is their foray into a furniture factory when their home tree is cut down. Mac (or is it Tosh?) is sent into a planing machine and comes out a bit addled and with curly wood shavings on top of his head:
Mac: “There was a little girl who had a little curl right in the middle of her forehead.”
Tosh: <SLAP!>
Mac: “Thank you. I daresay I needed that.”
I think that Frasier and Niles Crane could step right into the roles of these two gophers without anyone realizing that anything had changed.
The 'toon is called Waikiki Wabbit.
Was it in that same cartoon where, at the end, the mad scientist has released some sleeping gas? I remember a scene where he’s chasing Bugs, and they’re both moving in slow, slow motion, and he’s going “Come [pause] back [pause] here [pause] you [pause] rab [pause] bit!”
Then they fall asleep and float to the ground. “Nightey [pause] night.”
And then there’s the classic “Wile E. Coyote. Super Genius. I like the way that rolls out. Wile E. Coyote, Sooooper Geeeenius.”
Which was the one where Bugs is pretending to be a theater usher? All you see is the flashlight moving as he shows Elmer to a seat, that turns out to be a very high platform from which Elmer is tipped into a glass of water.
From the Bugs and penguin cartoon, two favourite lines:
“Hoboken?!!! Ooooo, I’m dying again!” and “Pen-gu-wins is practically chickens!”
Another cartoon, where Bugs is riding a plane that is headed nose-first to the ground. Inches above, it stops, and the scene cuts to Bugs hanging onto a lever saying, “Thank goodness for air brakes!”
NDP I had completely forgotten about the cannon ball and the Thomas Hawk.
sniffle I want my Saturday morning cartoons BACK, damnit!
