I’m talking about when the song starts, and there’s that ascending glissando-- duuuuuoooooOOOOOMMMM–then the actual orchestra commences.
How is that sound made? Is it a specific instrument? Thanks!

Musical saw?
I believe it’s a slide whistle.
I thought it was a steel guitar or a Dobro.
As for the musical saw or whistle they only play single notes whereas that introduction is definitely a chord.
Of course they could have gone to the trouble of multi-tracking a musical saw or whistle, but I’m sticking with either of the slide guitars I mentioned.
I believe I read some sort of guitar makes that unique noise that orchestrates the arrival of the WB shield.
Investigating further, I found on Google that Treg Brown did a lot of WB sound effects including the WB Cartoon Intro.
I tried searching for Treg Brown’s name and found some articles about him but nothing as detailed as to how that sound was made. Perhaps some other “Dopers” can find out about Treg Brown.
I have always thought it was a glissando on violin.
Ah, steel guitar! :smack: Of course! I don’t why that instrument escaped me…perhaps it was all that theremin music I was listening to yesterday.
Well, I shall research Treg Brown then. Thanks so much.
