I picked this up today on DVD and I am super-psyched. It has my all-time favortie “I Love to Singa” as well as 15 Road Runner cartoons, Tweety and Sylvester, “One Froggy Evening”, “What’s Opera, Doc?”, and of course many more Bugs Bunny. I think this is a better collection than Vol. 1, actually.
Cool! That is on my must-buy list. I picked up Vol. 1 not long ago, but I’ve only had the time to watch a few of them. “I Love to Singa” is my all-time favorite as well and I agree that Vol 2 looks even better than 1. I hope they keep them coming! (more Foghorn Leghorn!)
Oooh! Oooh!
I MUST BUY! I MUST!
Mine arrived today from Amazon. I’m gonna watch it as soon as the election results are in, which may be weeks!
Volume 2 is out?! Gonna go out and get it right away. I already have all of the toons in my collection, but I can’t turn down the chance to get really high quality versions. Heh, so you’re a fan of Owl Jolson and Michigan J. Frog too!
I am waiting on for the Collected Vol. 1 & 2 from Amazon. It won’t ship until the new Marx Brothers collection is released on the 9th. Then I am going to have a lot of fun to watch.
Oh, great, now I’m going to have this running through my head all day:
I love to sing-a
About the moon-a and the June-a and the spring-a,
I love to sing-a,
About a sky of blue-a, or a tea for two-a,
Anything-a with a swing-a to an “I love you-a,”
I love to, I love to sing!
I was playing the Looney Tunes Playstation game a couple days ago and at one point you come across Owl Jolson doing “I love to Singa,” which has been running through my head for days now.

Tonight I was watching disc 2 of volume 2 with my kids and it got to the “Father’s Day” episode of Papa, Mama, and Junior Bear. At the beginning of the episode as it’s panning from bed to bed to introduce the characters to the audience, there is a book on the floor next to papa bear’s bed.
Titled “Kinsey Report”.
Is that the “Father’s Day” one with:
JUNIOR BEAR: Sit down, Pa, and I will fill your pipe for you on Father’s Day.
(goes galumphing off to the kitchen, gets a canister from a high shelf and reads the label)
JUNIOR BEAR: G-U-N-P-O-W-D-E-R. Tobacco.
And he also tries to give his dad a shave?
These sets are so on my Xmas list! This may be a dumb question, but for those who already own them, are the cartoons absolutely uncut? Over the years, they’ve seen fit to butcher them for television, to remove all the violence and anything else that was seen to be politically incorrect. Especially the ones with the bears. Pa hitting Junior is gone. In the last part of the Father’s Day episode, where they’re marching across the stage singing about Pa, the scene where they fired the guns into the air went missing. I don’t get the rationale behind that one…
vol 1 had the cartoon where Daffy Duck commits suicide with a gun, so I’d say it’s a safe bet that everything else is in its uncut form
I bought it yesterday, but when I got home DesertRoomie was out, so I went through all the features on disc 1 while waiting for her return. Then we started on the 'toons and got about half way through disc 1 before knocking off for the evening.
My only complaint: the digital masters are a little too clean. The cartoons were made in a hurry and several times I’ve been mesmerized by dancing dust particles.
