Whoa - wait. So I’m scum for waffling on special ed but you’re not even though you posted nearly the exact same thing? Is it because yesterDay I actually voted for ed, while you voted for Chipacabra based on weak “he’s not playing this time like he did in Harry Potter” reasoning? Yet I’m the one trying to avoid accountability.

This just reminded me of a webpage I’d seen…

kind of like where we are. this is a tough one for scum. gotta vote. but if they vote the wrong way they are kind of fucked depending on the flip.

woot woot.

Ed, that video cracked me up. Favorite part: “Where are the donuts?”

and third vote probably coming up as well.

How did you know I was bringing the strap-on?

You took my quote out of context.

My point is not that peeker-style posting itself doesn’t have a sense of purpose. Your posting style has always been to throw out as much random shit into a thread as possible and see what random shit ends up sticking. You do that as town or scum. My point was that it seemed you stopped flinging randomly and started directing that shit to go away from the current lynch leader. That seemed suspicious, particularly since I’ve watched you do it in many games. You were aiming rather than flinging haphazardly, so I was trying to figure out why you were aiming.

Well, since you ended with your vote on me yesterDay, it’s not as if your revoting of me is that much of a “putting your money where you mouth is” situation.

But why vote me now rather than earlier in the Day? Clearly your mind hasn’t changed on your opinion of me, and I’ve already defended–as well as I intend to–against your case yesterDay, so why wait? It’s not as if votes aren’t easily changeable.

You were voting for Ed yesterday, when there was no danger of him actually being lynched. Today, when there is/was a chance of that, you suddenly feel the need to back off that vote. That’s the difference, and it’s a very big difference.

ok, hoopy, i’ll play. i sling semi random shit around to see what other folks’ reactions are. i kind of want to see they do. if you call that, no purpose, then that is your judgement. and yes when i get focused on one or two folks i do have a tendency to focus there. i have already admitted that is my weakness in this game.

i still think the odds are that ed is town and that you are scum.

i’ve made that clear in my recent posts and my vote. if you want a waffle you have to order a side of bacon as well for six bucks at ihop.

and hoopy whether you or the rest of the crowd believe it pretty much every post i make has a purpose. a lot of folks seem to want to call it “spamming the thread”. such is not the intent. i just want to catch scum. and catching scum typically involves making them talk. so you and pleo (aka the claimer) can pound sand. it’s how i do it. and if you don’t like it just vote me or follow your own path to a town victory.

[oog] hoopy and pleo are some of the most respected folks i follow in this game. i merely post this because there are some folks that i am not familiar with in this game. and we do this shit all the time so no worries. it really is part of the game and i would buy them a diet coke at any point[/oog].

Please bleach votes in quotes, folks.
It rhymes!

nat: wanderer has kind of fallen off my radar because he hasn’t really said much of squat. maybe i need to revisit that, as well.

thank you for jogging my memory.

I guess that would explain Drain’s strap on.

I suddenly feel like a castrated stooge. Eunuch nyuk nyuk.

Ed, I simply meant that there was a stint where I voted for you. Pleonast is all “omgz I can has Meeko perma-voting me lolz!!!11one”

and hoopy gets an apology. i mis read his post. he was semi agreeing with me on re read.

and i admit that i am very verbose and random early in games. after that i kind of get a little more focused. the point is not to “spam” the thread but rather to get folks talking.

now this game has gotten a little bit wonky because of the depth of information that is being discussed. and this is not to give even a small ration of crap to ed or pleo but the whole handshake and role claim thing was pretty voluminous in and of itself. plus the fact that other posters like chronos seem to be more participatory than what i remember being usual and customary has really added to the volume.

i will rethink my strategy in future games based on what the game state is. it just feels like in this game we have had the perfect confluence of large volume posters and varying strategy discussions.

Of the candidates at the moment, I am going to go back to my previous Astral vote. This isn’t locked in by any means, but I want to get a vote on record

vote Astral Rejection

Accepted. Now answer my question from reply 2028.

And while your at it, what do you see as the similarities and differences between a poster waffling about someone they are voting for and waffling about someone they aren’t voting for? Do you view the situations the same? If so, why? Do you view them as different? If so, why? Or is it a bit of both?

Vote Natlaw for obvious scumminess.

Kidding!

I’ve been doing a re-read on MHaye, simply because he isn’t saying much. (Sorry guys, I took the low hanging fruit; I’m not doing peeker.) It’s posted below - the commentary is mine alone.

21: Signs up.
54: Dismayed that ShadowFacts isn’t playing.
64: Talkes about experience in Discworld game, the Luggage was the SK.
64: In response to John DiFool, gives a quick overview of Mafia basics.
81: Notes it’s been a while since Gadarene has played.
155: Confirms receipt of role PM.
528: Just because someone might have the role of Gandalf doesn’t mean that player is town-aligned. Wizards did fail; maybe Gandalf would follow the blue wizards and forget why he’s here.
531: Some explanation for newbies. Name claim is something that can’t be undone (or recanned). First SAHM mention. Morgul knives could be recruitment mechanism.
650: Explains use of SAHM. Doesn’t like calling people “scum.” Might use “Forces of the Dark Lord” instead.
663: Further SAHM explanation. Says handshake used it enough, it’d be easy to deduce the meaning. And it amused him.
664: Didn’t play in pond game. Decides on “servants of darkness” (sods) for the scum acronym - it’s in the OP.
868: Corrects Mahaloth’s vote count: he shows three votes for ed.
871: Asks Red Skeezix for post reference for peeker’s unvote of ed.
887: Votes for ed. Handshake helped SAHMs by outing town power roles. (SAHM appearance = 3)
904: Says Plankton’s stated 2nd power makes sense: Sauron detected Denethor using the palantir and led him into despair.
949: Notes tie between ed and Plankton. Wonders whether the tiebreaker is the first to reach the top vote. OK with a lynch of either.
959: Agrees that in canon, Denethor wasn’t evil, just hopeless. But it’s easy to flip that from canon alignment and his treatment of Faramir was clearly evil. Thinks Plankton is Saruman false claiming Denethor. Considering switching his vote to Plankton.
969: Questions whether Mahaloth has omitted Guiri’s vote for ed (#878) in the vote count (#955).
1224: Notes that longest Day 1 on IdleMafia was in Firefly Mafia. Bunch of posts were jettisoned.
1238: Fluff posts at night needn’t be kept down. Multiple threads are tedious. Might cap and continue our game thread if it gets over the limit set by board policy, whatever that might be.
1638: Corrects Snicker’s mistake: Treebeard wasn’t that weird (included in development sung by Ainur), Tom Bombadil was (Tolkien never explained where he came from).
1690: Day 2 analysis. Voted for ed yesterday. Today, suspicion on ed is decreasing, but he’s not exonerated - will revote for him if he doesn’t see anything else.
1765: Votes Chipacabra, with misgivings. Verified Hoopy’s claims that Chip’s posts were intended to save Plankton. Chip too contradictory: ed put denethor on his list making Plankton’s later claim more credible, but ed’s too good of a player to try to rescue a fellow scum with that tactic (i.e. if ed’s scum, he wouldn’t do what Chip claimed he did because he’s scum.) If Chip is scum, ed isn’t. If Chip is town, that says nothing about ed. (SAHM appearance = 9)
1843: Night post explaining SDMB handle origin - he completely made it up.
1871: Can’t judge effects of ed’s handshake until the game is complete. Don’t vote for someone if you think they’re town; it only hurts town. (SAHM appearances = 3)

Things that jump out at me (well, not much, to be honest):
[ul]
[li]I’m slightly pinged by his Denethor arguments surrounding Plankton; this very faintly smells of scum protection. But really faintly.[/li][li]For my own amusement, I noted the posts where he really makes use of the SAHM acronym. I don’t think this means anything, but it could also be a poke at those who do. He’s not using either of the other 2 alternatives he proposed.[/li][/ul]

yeh, hoop my opinion of you has not changed. sure i could have voted you right out of the gate. votes are cheap, right? i’ll not make that mistake again.

and i think waffling for someone you are voting for is much more heinous than waffling for someone you are not voting for. and that is where i currently struggle. there seem to be several folks that are voting for folks but aren’t convinced. well shoot, unless they are the cop or scum or then who the hell is convinced about their vote? i mean you don’t have to tell me.

i mean i think you are scum but i don’t feel compelled to have every comment about you coming from me be caveated with “well, i sure hope he’s not town” kind of nonsense.

and this is metagame so to heck with you pleo  and maybe it’s unfair but, meh.

you are a strong player. and for you to use an argument against a fellow player for basically doing the same thing that you were doing seems scummy to me (at least the way i read it).

is that fair enough hoopy? i mean i am not asking you to agree (matter of fact i would suspect that you would disagree) but whether i at least answered your questions.

<snipped>

you can always do me after drain gets done with me.
