(out of game) Storyteller tried this on Idle, or something like it (Marvel Civil War Mafia) - the day couldn’t end until one person got a set number of votes. Day One lasted 3 weeks, or maybe more.
Thanks! Should have figured it would be problematic in actual practice.
Back to the game… I am still re-reading on Snickers. At this point, I don’t have much other than gut feelings (like Meeko). I’m not sure gut feelings (plus the OMGUS you voted for me! ;)) are really enough to make me move my vote off Stickler.
But here’s what I do see: Mhaye points out that Snickers uses the term “bussing”. That is problematic. My ears also perked up when she started talking about me throwing around smudges. I think there has been a lot of “Aw shucks, it’s my first game! Tee hee!” That makes me suspicious. Last time I played poker with someone professing to play their first game, I ended up in my underwear betting my first born children. I am having a hard time reconciling the terminology with the idea of being a bumbling novice. But, at the same time, we are like 60 freaking pages in. No one involved in this game is a rookie anymore. So… slightly scummy.
I also question her posts in the early game where she was being very careful about what she was posting. That certainly looks scummy as does her response of lesson learned - won’t do that in the future when it was pointed out. Slightly scummy.
I also got a little suspicious when re-reading that she took so long to jump in on the Astral vote. But, looking back, she said she was off camping. I can’t really hold that against her when real life has been hugely affecting my participation in this game. Null tell.
I’m still reading and not ready to move my vote around.
Anyways… Quick question for Snickers if you’re still around - what is it from your WoW that makes you feel USCDiver is town?
And speaking of ol’ USC… with the day extended, I definitely hope he and Hoopy will check back in.
For clarity’s sake… the reason I ask: Giving Hoopy a small amount of trust based on Chronos’s investigations (but not completely confirming him), that leaves four players: Snickers, Doctor Who, Inner Stickler, and USCDiver. Based on our unconfirmed status, we definitely should be the focus of discussions today. You’ve got votes, I’ve got votes, Stickler’s got votes… USC no votes. Not that players necessarily need to vote for him, but I think, as a member of our dubious fraternity, he deserves a little attention as well.
Oh, I agree that we should examine everyone in the quad carefully. I guess it’s the lack of anything that jumps out at me as scummy that makes me think he’s town. I did a WoW on MHaye earlier in the game, and didn’t see anything that made me think twice. Same thing when I read through on USCDiver. He has a lot of posts, but nothing that made me go “hmmm.” (Now I sound like a bad 90s song.)
Ok guys… a couple of things and then Mrs. Who is commandeering my computer (in fact, she’s pretending to clean up in this room right now and generally wandering around behind me to hurry me up). Which means reading/posting is doable on my iPhone, but a pain in the ass. So this might be the last post of the night for me.
First… I don’t mean to be Debbie Downer, but we are squandering this extra Day we were given. I want to be the first to point out what we all know to be true: we are all weary from this journey. Almost 60 pages and 3000ish posts. That’s a ton to keep up with. That’s a ton to read. Not to go all Rudy on you guys, but we need to dig down and win this game. We destroyed the Ring. We killed Sauron. We killed Shelob. We can kill whatever scum remains and win this game. We just have to keep our momentum going by posting.
Second… I have been re-reading USCDiver’s posts. Like Snickers, nothing really jumps out at me in the early days. Although I find that curious. It’s a bit meta-game but his posts feel somewhat cautious for me. I did find some cause for concern though: post 2900 where he refers to “the Remaining Scum” (bolding mine) and “Did he kill…” (again bolding mine) Both times singular. In 2891, he also posts as though it’s a given there is one remaining Scum. It’s not a lot, because I know plenty of us think there is only one Scum left. But we definitely don’t definitively know that. For me, it has a whiff of PIS.
I’m still happy with my vote on Inner Stickler for now, but I have some thinking to do. You guys do too. P.S. If I am correct, Stickler and MHaye are the only two players without a vote in. Since we are only 7 players now, I hope you two will do your civic duty, and cast a vote soon (if I missed your vote, please forgive me).
IS subbed in for Normal Phase, so I took a look at her posts first. There’s nothing that pings me either way; she set her stall out, as it were, and then got dragged off before the game really got under way.
So, IS.
Out of his 47 posts, I rejected 23 as being either Night posts, amendments of an immediately preceding post (which get considered with the post they amend) or Daytime fluff.
I’m omitting any posts which were made at Night, were not game related or were made to modify on an immediately preceding post (NETA posts and the like) which I analyse with the posts they modify.
[post=12817139]1091[/post]; opens with a vote against SP because his PM did not agree with SP’s claim. Perfectly valid. That’s the extent of Day 1 participation; remembering he subbed in that’s neutral.
Day 2.
[post=12830530]Post 1389[/post] has him comment on the Ed/Peeker dispute, analysing it correctly.
[post=12830631]Post 1391[/post] sees him comment on Ed’s playstyle.
[post=12833530]Post 1451[/post] : IS on how the SP situation would have played out. His forecast assumes they have a roleblocker (correct, as it turns out – Nanook was blocked Night 4.)
[post=12834123]Post 1505[/post] has him challenging Peeker’s claim to be some sort of masonry.
[post=12834711]Post 1583[/post] – Pleo isn’t claiming to be confirmed Town.
[post=12834825]Post 1592[/post] – lists help SAHM more than Town.
[post=12842611]Post 1761[/post] – I don’t have a problem with his comment that Chip was going to swing, as it certainly seemed that way at that point.
End of Day 2. Not a lot of substantive analysis but I have no problem with the vote.
Day 3.
[post=12857407]Post 1946[/post] – Problems with ID-ing the power roles.
[post=12864526]Post 2053[/post] – Suggests that some of SAHM may have already voted, which means they won’t be feeling the pressure Chronos suggests. (Not necessarily true).
[post=12868489]Post 2106[/post] – votes Astral because he’s unconvinced about SE.
End of Day 3. Again, not a lot of substantive stuff. He’s keeping it brief, which sometimes means lack of supporting detail. However, 2053 bothers me a bit, mainly because even if some of SAHM had voted, they might well be feeling pressure.
Day 4.
[post=12880120]Post 2195[/post]. Busts out with a very certain-feeling vote on Natlaw.
[post=12880174]Post 2201[/post] – Speculates inconclusively on Natlaw’s motives for saving AR.
End of Day 4.
Day 5.
[post=12880174]Post 2201[/post]. Vote Astral, because he doesn’t believe Astral. End of Day.
Day 6.
[post=12937958]Post 2788[/post]. Roleclaims, votes, is ill. End of Day 6 participation.
Day 7.
[post=12943650]Post 2845[/post]. Hasn’t received any items.
[post=12946200]Post 2861[/post]He voted late Day 1 because he subbed in, not because he is one of SAHM.
[post=12947197]Post 2866[/post]. Votes OAOW for “scummy voting.” No supporting detail. Asserts he tends to play Mafia the same way every game. He’s trying to change though.
End of Day 7.
Day 8.
[post=12959400]Post 2902[/post]. Surprised about the discussion of his rolename. Points out that Mahaloth has a track record of surprising twists in naming roles (a good habit in a mod). Will be irritated if his rolename is something used to lynch him, as it’s out of his control.
[post=12963358]Post 2930[/post]. Irritated at Snickers’ mischaracterisation of him, votes for her.
I had to check for what IS called the mischaracterisation. I found it in [post=12959890]post 2905[/post] (I think.) I agree, it’s not the best interpretation of his words, but neither is this playstyle the way I remember IS playing in Dr. Horrible Mafia. I might be misremembering, but I thought him more active in that game.
The problem with rolenames is not which one IS drew but whether, in the context of what we know, the claim that Gimli is vanilla is believable. (It doesn’t matter who drew Gimli).
I do think it’s fair to say IS’s participation dropped off in Day 5. There are more posts but they don’t really address the gamestate. Accepting he was ill Day 6, the other Days don’t have much more participation. I get the feeling that he is lying low.
IS or Snickers? Snickers’ description of IS’s explanation of his playstyle is bothering me, but so is IS’s extreme brevity in his vote explanations don’t give you anything to get a read on.
Vote Inner Stickler.
I know that makes it a tie, and I’m sorry. But my gut call is that IS is marginally more suspicious than Snickers at this point.
Self-defense votes are null-tells. Speaking of which. You are currently tied for the lead, but you are voting for a one-off. That’s a little strange considering that you’ll swing given the tie-break mechanism in this game (ie you got to the three votes first). Feel free to save yourself if you’re Town.
Note that he voted for me back when we were tied at 2. I’d still gotten there first, so I would’ve swung then regardless of **MHaye **and Stickler’s votes. I don’t know how to read this, but thought I’d bring it up. There’s something there.
