Ah, now I see what you’re saying and I agree. I’ll drop it as well.
As far as the whole Gollum/PFK/Third-party discussion, I think we should hold off on any speculation until we’ve had at least one Night. If we get two (or more) night kills then we need to at least consider the possibility.
Sock Mafia on Giraffe Day 1 effectively confirming only myself (as Charles Lutwidge Dodgson) (The moderator came in and accused me of cheating because I quoted my PM. However, I hadn’t quoted my PM, only given the numbers of times some very common words appeared in it. The Vanilla Role PM was posted in short order.)
Undying War on Idlemafia Day1 semi-confirming several people, I don’t recall who but maybe NAF, and Fleo and Nanook? does that ring a bell? (I think there was a no quoting rule there too, but it was done through alluding to the win condition or maybe a lack thereof. Someone else might remember better.)
As far as the second question goes, wouldn’t naming the role work? It’s not like we don’t all have a good idea about which character names are likely to be represented in the game.
I would hesitate to follow this approach. It’s quite possible that Chronos must find and kill a specific character (Gollum must find and kill Sam and Frodo) or some type of recruitment (Grima can recruit Theoden)
IIRC, Meeko name-claimed early (with the name of a major character), and then the mod announced that the Scum were being given cover names, thereby proving that they hadn’t before, and thus confirming Meeko.
Wait, no, I’m thinking of Lost, not Weird West. I’m not sure why I get those two mixed up, especially considering that I didn’t even play in Weird West.
Earlier I said I was going to disregard Pleo’s power claim, but in reviewing the thread I’ve seen something that gives me pause. On page 5, post #244, Pleo says
I thought his comment earlier was a one-off, but he’s been repeatedly asserting his power status. This seems really suspicious to me. If I had a power role, I’d be keeping quiet about it this early in the game. The only pro-town motivation I can see is that (if he’s vanilla) he’ll draw scum fire and his death will protect any real power roles out there.
I played in Weird Wild West and I don’t recall either you or Special Ed in that game (I subbed in Day 2.)
Which brings up another question: in that game USCDiver was outed as scum, but in fact was a Miller. I’ve followed other games where the Miller situation was addressed, and the general consensus was that the Miller should claim early, like Day 1, to avoid problems later. Would the consensus be the same here?
To be clear: if I were a Miller, I would claim now. (I am not a Miller.)
that works. the only one that i played in, and was to a great extent disengaged from, is the undying war one. if i recall correctly scum won that puppy. how did it work out for town in the others?
