Lord of the Rings Mafia

ok, fuck i thought we were talking about this durn game.

jeebus, peek get it into gear. just a little bit of time left in this Day.

It wasn’t. Town had lost that game by Dawn of Day 3. We just hadn’t realized it yet.

hoppy. it just means they love you.

peep

gaderene approves.

well you were playing against the best.

stop this shit gaderine. otherwise the post patrol will throw us all in the clink.

Exactly my point. We have a habit of lynching the loud. Someone who posts a lot probably says things that may be somewhat suspicious and it’s easy to vote that way.

I suppose it’s almost inevitable on Day 1, but I think we need to be more careful

And see, my mentioning it (albeit out of frustration) brings attention to it, and maybe we’ll be a little more aware. Not a bad thing at all.

Maybe I shouldn’t have found it interesting. Maybe I should have just blithely continued playing without trying to analyze our approach to the game or comment n it.

peeker, I don’t hold you to any different standards than anyone else. I’ve been very vocal and consistent about my position toward you. You talk a lot, and say very little. You make it seem like you are contributing, but when you remove all of the joke posts, and the side conversations about previous games, and the cursing and screaming, there’s not a whole lot left.

Your votes for the first 800 posts of this thread counted for zero. Then you picked on the two easy targets, and then you throw your vote on **Chipacabra **while you wait to “see if we get a leader under our belt”. And now you’re going to vote for a lurker again “on principle”? Why even bother?

Hoopy, the reason the same doesn’t apply to you is because you don’t have the same deceptive posting style as peeker, and you actually took a stand. You were the first person to cast a vote for **Chronos **(assuming my spreadsheet is correct) and you got in on me early on as well. That makes you much less suspicious in my mind.

Good chance?

The vote record was as follows:

**

Chronos(1): Specialed

Suburban(5): Telcontar, Red Skeezix, Hoopy, Oredigger, Pleonast

USCDiver(3): Chronos, Drainbead, Gadarene

Nanook(1): Peeker

Peeker(1): Suburban

Astral(3): OneandOnly, USCDiver, Nanook**

14 votes total, Suburban up by 2, just under 3 Days left. So it’s not as if Suburban was particularly in danger yet.

But even if he was, do you really think that Ed would be needed to give suburban a way out by suggesting character names? I mean, it’s Lord of the Fucking Rings. There’s a crap-ton of websites that could easily give Suburban a good cover role description. Not to mention that scum no doubt got to talk night 0, so they probably started out crafting cover ideas, 'cause that’s what scum do on Night 0 when they can’t talk during the Day. However, I’ve seen scum blow cover roles before, particularly newbie/newish players. I forget the game, but it was here and Rysto helped craft the cover role and a newbie scum used it, but didn’t quite get it right and so no one bought the claim. Because scum couldn’t talk during the day, there was nothing to do to tweak the claim that wasn’t quite ready yet.

So I don’t buy the “Ed was helping Suburban” angle for a minute.

Why does him voting you or chronos early make him less suspicious?

Just to be clear the game was Cecil Pond and the Player was KellyCriterion.
Wiki Page:http://wiki.flyingcowofdoom.com/mafiaWiki/Cecil_Pond

i don’t think it works ed. you and i and several others play this game the same way. we chat and see what comes up. nook and his ilk don’t say a whole bunch but also don’t give people grief about the way they play (although i will say this coca coloa gave me first mafia vote years back for being too chatty). discussion is the weapon of mass destruction for town. i don’t give a rat’s rear what we talk about. fuck if you are a yankees fan then you are most likely scum kind of attitude.

chipa has said through the last page or so that she finds burb most likely scummy no matter what you are, even if you are town. but she/he is going to vote you regardless. that seems incongruent. i call bullshit.

your play was totally hosed and i call bullshit on that as well.

pleo’s play is equally hosed.

mod question: can we split our vote into fractions?

That was the pond game I ran, and KellyCriterion was the newbie in question. If you want to find it exactly, search that game for the word “rotifer”.

ed, this crusade against Lynch the Loud would probably be a lot more meaningful if it weren’t for the fact that your two votes have also been against two of the top participants. If you think we should be lynching lurkers, then go ahead, vote for a lurker.

Holy crap on a cracker. This game got interesting since the last time I checked in.

First off…

unvote USCDiver
vote Suburban Plankton

Not buying the roleclaim, for the many reasons already stated. Am still suspicious of Diver, and while I see quite a few people defending ed, his behavior in the couple of pages (yeesh) has been bizarre, to say the least. I am not understanding the whole role-name obfuscation in the least. I see no pro-Town motivation for it–it just seems like a big distraction. If SP comes up Scum, I think it looks like ed was protecting him.

Not much time to post more, but I wanted to get the vote in before it was too late. I’ll try to digest the last 100 or so posts overnight and see if I can come up with something a little more coherent. I got about 4 hours of sleep last night and desperately need to go to bed before I try to think more.

<snipped>

and maybe we need to take this to the pit. i win this game at about a 80 percentile rate. you may not like the way i play, and that is cool, but it seems to have history on its side.

i think i say plenty, fcs. if you are too obtuse to get it that is your problem, not mine.

and how are they easy targets? because they are making limp arguments and conclusions. frack my vote is on someone that admits that the person they are votiing for is less likely scum than another person. how does that make sense?

[oog]

i really really want everyone to read what i say, especially burb.

i play this game mean and dirty. as a result i get a little heated at times. but i want everyone to know that it is merely in the heat of battle that most of the posts are made. crap, and this probably speaks more about myself than anything else, but i consider all of you friends and we are just engaging in an activitiy that brings us some pleasure.

and if i cross the line then all you need do is post it in thread or pm me.

kthnxby{/oog}

…You probably shouldn’t PM him. :slight_smile:

Oh, so my comment, let’s quote it here

is now characterized as a crusade?

Every other comment that I’ve made has been in response to other people pointing out how simply awful and/or inaccurate my comment was.
and now it’s a crusade, eh?

Yikes, more than 200 posts to read through in a day! These are some thoughts on posts I’d marked while reading through:

Most votes not ending up in the final vote count will be ignored, last minute switching not withstanding. So I don’t seem much danger in this kind of tactic. Especially not now that you’ve brought it to light.

<snipped>
Not this time, sorry!:wink:

I see you’ve changed your vote now. If you’d like to discuss your suspicions of me, I’d like to address any concerns you are still having.

<snipped post discussing Plankton’s role claim>

I agree with you here and with other’s who have commented on the incongruous language in regards to ‘knowing Middle-earth is doomed’. However I am also loathe to lynch a claimed investigative role on Day 1. I still feel that Astral’s vote and unvote of me are the most scummy individual action of the Day. I’m happy with my vote where it is for now. I will be at work tomorrow at Dusk and probably unavailable for any last minute posting or voting. I may be able to check in tonight before going to bed and tomorrow before going to work.
