(Let me say first that I am using IE and I don’t intend to switch to Firefox, so that’s out of the way immediately.)
I had to erase everything on my hard drive the other day and start over with my computer. I got just about all the settings back that I had had previously, except now, when I want to find something on a page and press “Ctrl + F” the old gray box that used to pop up in the center of the page (the one that has boxes you can check at the bottom that say “match case” and “find whole words only”) is gone. Instead, on my Google toolbar, the magnifying glass that says “Find” becomes highlighted, and there’s a streak at the bottom of the webpage; only a streak. There’s nothing written on the streak or any pictures, just a big gray streak. Anyway, if I start to type in a word, it will find it; so, like, if I am looking for the word “convertible,” I will start typing, “c-o-” and it will immediately start highlighting words on the screen that match that. This might be convenient to some, but I don’t like it; I want the old gray box back that requires me to press “enter” before it starts searching.
I think I must have uninstalled a toolbar when I was setting up my computer, but I don’t remember which one. I currently have the Google toolbar, and that’s it. Does anyone know how I can bring back the gray box to find something?
