Lost snacks of your childhood...

Sadly I can no longer find the article to quote or cite, but about 10 years ago I read that the candy makers first started substituting different fillings on the 7-up bars due to product shortages and price increases. The public responded so positively to the change up that they continued to change up the fillings on a regular basis.

There were also Sugar Babies (made by the same folks who made Sugar Daddies). They were small bite size pieces of terror that like their “Daddy” could rip out fillings down to the root. One Halloween when I was very young I overdosed on those things and wound up with 8 cavities.

A recent victim of the disappearing sweets trend is Kozy Shack Vanilla pudding. Sublime. It suddenly vanished. I called the company and they told me it is now only sold to “institutions” . Schools and Prisons.

Today’s visit was more productive, those bags of Bun Bar minis, with Maple, Vanilla, and Salted Caramel were located and acquired. A nice taste from the past, in a manageable portion size too!

O’boisies are o’boisterous!

I don’t recall peanuts in Reggie Bars at all. It’s been longer than I thought.

I’ll pass on the 36-year old Reggie Bar. That’s past even a Twinkie’s expiration date!

I just remembered Lipton used to make a Tomato Cup A Soup. My mother loved it and ate it constantly. She was very disappointed when they discontinued making it.

I loved this candy as a kid and it had been discontinued, but because of this thread, I searched for it and it has been re-introduced!

Regal Crown Sour Cherry.

They just recently stopped making P19. I bought some at the Woodmans right before it was discontinued. There are other brands that are identical but I’ll always miss the retro looking box!:frowning:
