That’s what I’m talking about.
And one point is that no man defeated Nazghul 1. It took a combination shot from a Hobbit and a woman.
“Éowyn will kill him if he tries anything…”
Sorry.
But in the movie she didn’t laugh. That is my very favorite part!
I finally saw ROTK last night. I was disappointed that PJ didn’t even attempt to do the Dernhelm thing. We knew it was Eowyn all along. I don’t know about anyone else but I was quite surprised when she revealed herself the first time I read the book (of course, I was like 12).
Actually it is Glorfindel the Elf-lord from Rivendell that tells us that “not by the hand of man will he [the Witch King] fall.” At least, that what we are told in Appendix A.
Let’s also not forget that Eowyn calls the Witch King a “foul dwimmerlaik.”
Good point LL, I don’t understand why PJ even bothered having Eowyn take off her helmet, since we knew all along that she was going to battle. The surprise was completely eliminated.
I read the book when I was 15 and was just as surprised as you were as to the identity of Dernhelm.
*Begone, foul dwimmerlaik, lord of carrion! Leave the dead in peace! *
You really can’t say things like that in a film and keep a straight face…
