When I can’t get on WoW, I decided to download the free LOTRO game, but I cannot see the instructions of my NPC questgivers - the writing is too small, and so is my action bar. Does anyone know how to increase the size?
Thanks

It’s probably a resolution issue - how’s the rest of the text in the game look (menus, inventory interface, etc)?
Everything else is fine, Johnny B. All the quests in the big box can be read. I googled this in the meantime, and one of the comments was “that’s what you get in a free game, play Guild Wars.”…
Thanks

GW & GW2 are both free2play out of the gate. LOTRO was subscription for a couple/three years. :whistles innocently:
Play with your resolution settings, including those in the operating system itself. (Switching off anti-aliasing sometimes helps for me in other games, like Star Trek Online.)
Try sitching to DX9, and see if that helps. (Switching to DX9 is done in game, and will require a game restart.
Thanks, guys. I thought one had to pay like $59.00 to play GW2. Didn’t even check GW1 as I thought GW2 was the next version up.
Q
You do have to pay to play Guild Wars. It’s $40 or $50 to purchase the game, but after that it’s free to play.
Sorry, I guess I didn’t know what “Free out of the gate” means. I know there’s no monthly subscription fee, but wasn’t sure why there wasn’t a free trial version.
Thanks

I apologize for being unclear.
No problem! It was me who didn’t understand and I’ve been gaming for about 5 years now!:o

Is the game any good otherwise? I didn’t know it was free and I’ve been meaning to try an MMORPG while I’m out of school.
I love LotRO - I’ve been playing it off and on since it launched, and more exclusively for a couple of years now. The latest expansion in particular is pleasing me deeply.
Apparently some people playing at “high” resolutions do have problems with the quest-giver font, though I play at 1900x1080 and have no problems reading it, so I’m a little confused. It’s not adjustable though, as far as I understand. =/ That said, if you ARE running at an extreme resolution, you might have to try not doing that.
I appreciate all the answers, everyone. I’ll try adjusting the resolution, Airk, and see what happens.
Thanks again!
Q
Like Airk I’ve been playing since launch, well actually beta testing, and I still play off and on. I switch off between that, WoW and Star Wars: The Old Republic.
If you like LOTR and MMORGs you’ll love LOTRO. Getting to hang out with the main characters and doing quests for them and even with them is really cool. (Even Tom Bombadil.)
There are regular quests like any other game has like kill boars and bad guys but they have Books. Where you actually get to play in some of the important scenes from the movies. And they have a lot of little cool touches like with Hobbits you can turn your shoes off and run around with your hairy bare feet.
Ok, back on topic.
Quasi if you can’t get the problem fixed with the resolution settings maybe you could trying deleting and then re-installing the game.
I’ve never played an MMORPG at all, actually, but I do like LOTR.
