I sure hope it didn’t hurt these poor guys to fly in the daytime. They looked pretty comfortable sleeping under those roofing tiles.
I never would have dreamed they could nest under roof tiles. At least they weren’t aggressive.

I don’t think bats are ever aggressive. I do wonder, however, what the homeowner could have done to prevent the bats from locating there–short of pulling off the roof. A few bats in the belfry is one thing, but that’s just plain crazy.

I love bats. I’m very happy with the ones living above my porch and i wish I had more of them. I wouldn’t want them living IN my roof like that though. I can’t imagine how much that hammering must have hurt the little guys.
Yowza, that’s a whole lotta guano. I like bats too (obviously) - anything that eats mosquitoes is beneficial.
Hope they find a nice big palm tree to relocate to.
Bats love little gaps in roofing or siding on a house. They can squeeze in there and be safe while they sleep. Houses with wood shingle siding usually have resident bats.
Here is a PDF with pictures of how to build a bat house. It is just a few closely placed boards with a top to keep out the rain.

Who knew bats were so cute. I like the way in the video the guy was a bit leery of them at first, but then after a few hundred (well maybe less), he was so nonchalant about it.
