Lou Ferrigno - pauper or millionaire?

There are literally DOZENS of people in the world right now who are smarter than me, and I’d like to ask them this - is Lou Ferrigno, B-movie actor, star of the original '70’s “Incredible Hulk” series, one-time rival of Arnold Schwarzenegger and my childhood hero, loaded now at the end of his career or not?

Don’t laugh, but the possibility that this man, who came so close to superstardom and then had every single significant career door slammed in his face, is now working as the designated greeter at Caesar’s Palace casino breaks my heart.

Can anyone put my mind at rest?

This is the wrong forum, but in anticipation of a move to GQ or CS, he does have an official website ( and here was I assuming he was dead).

He plays a bit part in the upcoming Hulk movie and has had steady work since the show was cancelled, according to IMDb. I wouldn’t know if he’s rich or poor, but I assume he’s not starving.

He also has a small role on the CBS sitcom “King of Queens,” playing himself.

If he can hire someone to do his website, I don’t think he can be too bad off. Hold off on starting the Lou Ferrigno poverty fund for now  .

He’s a regular on CBS’ “King of Queens”.

He plays Doug and Carrie’s neighbor.

I think it depends on how wise he was with his “Hulk” money. If he blew all of it, he would be making an okay living with his current cameo’s. If he invested it, or was shrewd with it, with his current cameo’s he would be doing pretty well.

He appears at various comic book conventions and sells autographs and t-shirts. I don’t know if that’s a sign of poverty or not…

Ferrigno revived his professional bodybuilding career briefly in the 90s. He could well have parlayed that comeback into fitness-related personal appearances and small-scale endorsements.

It seems to me that while Ferrigno may never be able to buy and sell Bill Gates, he’s fully capable of making a nice living for himself through a variety of avenues.

OK, a visit to that website confirms that Ferrigno’s career is apparently doing just fine.

I. LOVE. LOU. FERRIGNO.

He does a fantastic job on King of Queens and he looks FANTASTIC. I certainly hope he’s living a comfortable life. I do know he’s happy with his wife and children, and is able to take care of him self physically, so it’s not like he’s a looney destitute guy.

The thing I can’t understand with him is the huge difference in his appearance as the Hulk. He looks big and all, but nothing like the monstrocity he was when he won the titles back to back. Anyone know why that is? Look at his stomach muscles to see what I mean, its like before and after shots.

More likely a sign that he knows he’s got fans who want to meet him.

I see his aunt alot, she said that he has his own personal trainer business & is doing pretty well.

(wipes tears of gratitude from eye) God bless you, learned and gentle strangers. You have reassured me that this giant of men rests on his laurels in the comfort that he deserves.

NOW! Who can tell me about Adam West…?..

Just kidding! The good news on Lou is fine. All hail the Internet! (shuffles backwards humbly, making bowing motions)

regards all,

bTW, there is a ‘ask the hulk’ topic right now in IMHO or MPSIMS…

Can’t find his birth date, but he won Mr. Universe at age 21 or 22. The Hulk followed at around age 25 or 26? He’s surely in Arnolds age group by now, and that’s 50ish? So. after 30 years, I don’t think any bodybuilder lools like he used to. IMHO. Met him at a gym opening a few years ago. Even today, he’s not someone you would slap in a bar.

Come on, you people should know where to look up information like this about Ferrigno. Here’s his IMDb entry:

http://us.imdb.com/Name?Ferrigno,+Lou

He’s 50 years old. He’s regularly working in TV and movies, although not in any big parts. He deliberately lost a lot of his muscle mass back in the late '80’s because he decided he didn’t want to look so muscle-bound. He figured he’d get more acting roles if he wasn’t so muscular.

Here you go endecker. Thought you might be interested in what Lou had to say about the new movie.

Big Lou also has been doing to voice of the Hulk in the animated TV series. “Rahr! Hulk will smash!” which sounds like a lot of fun.

IIRC, he’s not only a personal trainer, I think he runs his own high-end gym.

If you’ve seen recent photos of him, he look damn fine for his age too (haven’t seen “King of Queens”, so perhaps I just saw a great photo?)

A newspaper item had him very positive about one aspect of the animated movie Hulk, cartoons can’t do conventions and sign autographs. One can make an okay living just working the convention circuit.

Why would Lou be doing the voice of the Hulk in a cartoon? He didn’t do the voice in the TV series, IIRC, and I don’t think his voice is very “Hulky.” OTOH, I haven’t seen the cartoon.
