I find his stand up really funny and his TV shows terrible. I wish he found the right role.
!
I can understand not liking Lucky Louie since it played the “generic sitcom” card a little too much, but I’m stunned you could like his standup and dislike “Louie.” It strikes me as a perfect visualization of the humor and approach of his standup.
Agreed.
The episode where he goes to the dentist…
It’s a mystery to me too.
I think Louis CK is one of the best stand-ups around right now, but I just don’t find awkward scenes entertaining to watch. When he talks about that stuff in his stand-up, the awkwardness gets abstracted and filtered out.
LMFAO
“You’re sitting in a chair. IN THE SKY!”
If that isn’t ROFL-worthy, I don’t know what is!
My favorite Louis C.K. bit is where he talks about being broke.
Ever get so broke that the bank starts charging you money for not having enough money?
His show left me flat, too, but his stand-up is the funniest I’ve ever seen.
Ditto. Well, not quite flat; maybe more like bumpy. Parts were very funny, but other parts were so grim as to be completely miserable.
Thanks, Morbo! That clip is a keeper!
My favorite bit of his is about getting his daughter up to see the ponies in Italy. That said, he’s never made me LOL, but he’s amused me. I really like his stuff if that makes sense.
You crazy? Both his shows were comedy gold.
I don’t think I’ve ever laughed hard than at his baby-rape joke in his last comedy special:
I don’t see how somebody would ever have sex with a child. I know I would never do that…well, maybe if it was a DEAD kid. At least that way it wouldn’t warp their mind or anything
I want to like “Louie”, and find some of the humor compelling, but he had that episode about Birmingham, Alabama last season which, for obvious reasons, completely turned me off. He just went for the obvious, obvious small town cracker-redneck humor. It’s just so incredibly wrong. For one thing, Birmingham is mostly black, not white. It just spiraled from there.
It’s very funny. This was maybe the best part of his most recent Comedy Central special.
I agree! I find my funds to be GROSSLY insufficient!
Though my favorite bits are Being White and Getting Laid.
I liked his pursuit of that Sistah (The “Jungle Fever Episode of Louie”). Honest, refreshingly poignant, and perhaps one of the most sadly accurate descriptions of modern race relations. he spoke for me as a white man.
Did anyone else hear Louis CK on Opie and Anthony asking Donald Rumsfeld over and over if he is a space lizard who eats human flesh? I love it. - YouTube
