Love Makin' Music

More weirdness from Flypsyde:

No Doubt-all of Tragic Kingdom
Candy Dulfer-Lily Was Here
Dave Matthews Band-Crash Into Me and Say Goodbye

Okay, so only the first one’s weird.

“Bodie, I noticed you stopped stuttering.”
“I’ve been giving myself shock treatments.”
“Up the voltage.”
-Real Genius

Flyp…good call on DMB. I’d have to add “Lover Lay Down” to your list, though.

“There is no worse lie than a truth misunderstood by those who hear it.” - William James

I suggest you try Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Flight of the Bumblebee”.

Quand les talons claquent, l’esprit se vide.
Maréchal Lyautey

Arnold… that brings back imagry of “A Clockwork Orange” and the William Tell Overture

Long separated by cruel fate, the star-crossed lovers raced across the grassy field toward each other like two freight trains, one having left Cleveland at 6:36 p.m. traveling at 55 mph, the other from Topeka at 4:19 p.m. at a speed of 35 mph.

some of my favorites:

Kind of Blue - Miles Davis
To Bring You My Love - PJ Harvey
Loveless - My Bloody Valentine
High Art Soundtrack
The Governess Soundtrack
TNT - Tortoise
any of the recent Dead Can Dance CDs (nods at MadPoet)
Like Swimming - Morphine
Mezzanine - Massive Attack

I’m stunned that no one’s mentioned my favorite yet - Bolero.

Starts out soft and seductive, gradually becomes loud and raunchy. Put it in the CD player on Repeat, and you’re good to go.

Try it, you’ll thank me.

We’ll thank you, Max? Hmmm…perhaps I should try that song out…

“There is no worse lie than a truth misunderstood by those who hear it.” - William James

No thanks; Bolero always makes me think of “Caveman” with Ringo Starr for some reason. Yikes!
How about Yello? This Mortal Coil works, too (tired of Dead can Dance-- too long in grad school studying art–there’s no escape from it there), and I’ve recently discovered The Damned. The CDs that are ALWAYS in the machine right now, though are the last few Elliot Smith things, so I do lots of things to those. The good Reverend Horton Heat if I’m feeling goofy.

My SO says the same, and even has the tape, but it’s a little orderly for my taste…

The things that come to those that wait may be the things
left by those who got there first.

Depends… When I’m on top I want something fast and wild. When he’s doing me, I want it slow.

(Never been to) Spain, or Time of the Season, or any song like them.

I believe the best Mood Music for me was “Into Battle” from The Art of Noise

When I was younger, I listened to Samhain or early Danzig, or Type O Negative. Love the deep evil voices.
These days, music would be drowned out by the screaming, panting and moaning so why bother?

John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt. That’s my name too.
Wait, no it isn’t.

The album “Disintegration”, by The Cure. In its entirety. Repeat as necessary.

“That’s entertainment!” —Vlad the Impaler

Fiona Apple, Poe, and DMB are the ones who immediately come to mind. Especially Fiona.

I must have the song that was played during the Kevin Spacey/Mena Suvari seduction scene in American Beauty.

Never Tear Us Apart by INXS is a good one.

The soundtracks from The Craft and The Saint are excellent choices, in my personal experience.

“…all the prettiest girls live in Des Moines…”
–Jack Kerouac, On the Road

When I was little,I thought the song Crystal Blue Persuasion would be great, but never had the chance to use it. I’ve never had music on when doing “it”.But if I could,I might choose anything by Boy George. He has a nice voice!

We are on an irreversible path to democracy and freedom. But that could change-Dan Quayle

“Do you really want to hurt me…”

O yeah. Baby. That’s the Ticket
