So at the end of the movie, first the two lovers bury themselves in concrete. Then, they are seen, old and happy, playing scrabble. I don’t get it. I can think of three possible explanations:
(1) They buried themselves in concrete, and while dying, dreamed about the future that they would have in heaven, playing Scrabble
(2) They threw the tin into the concrete, and as it was buried, they were also metaphorically buried, leaving their rage and harsh, cruel bets behind
(3) It’s deliberately ambiguous.
