What happened next? “Spoilers for certain”

I rarely wish for more in a movie or book. The author/screenwriter did their job and I accept that. THE END.

However occasionally my mind goes a wondering and I think. . .what happened next?

“L.A Confidential” The last scene is so touching.
Bud gets the girl. Bud and Lynn move to Arizona. Bud gets a job with the Sheriff’s dept and Lynn opens her dress shop. They never have children. Unfortunately Bud never gets over the fact that she was a prostitute and blames that for their lack of children. He beats her on a regular basis and finally beats her to death; goes to prison. His cell mate is his father. He then kills his father.

Back in Hollywood Exley realizes he has feelings for the DA; but those types of feelings at that time in history and with his career plans must be hidden. To be near the DA, Exley marries the DA’s daughter. They have five beautiful children. Finally at some family function they (the DA & Exley) realize their love and attraction for each other. They have a wonderful clandestine relationship that lasts for years into their old age. They outlive their spouses. They are the first same sex couple to marry in California.
So anyone else have any ideas for an epilogue to a movie?

Hopefully this is the correct forum.

Yes, this is the correct forum. But there’s an issue with spoilers. You did mark this thread as containing spoilers, which ordinarily would be sufficient… except that a spoiler warning doesn’t really work unless there’s an indication of what work is being spoiled. Accordingly, I’ve put a part of your post into spoiler tags, and request that anyone else making similar posts does the same.

Thank you

Mad magazine did this a few decades ago with their parody of Summer of '42:

They flashed forward to the “present,” summer 1971, and showed Hermie and Dorothy on the beach. In 1941 he was an infatuated teenager, she a 20-something bride who eventually receives word her soldier husband is killed in action. The end of the movie indicates they never met again after a night of sex, but the parody shows they eventually did hook up. But in '71 he’s a middle-aged man ogling girls in bikinis and fending off Dorothy, who is now a sex-starved old bag.

Summer of 42 did this as a movie: Class of 44

Oh yeah, forgot about that. I barely recall it. The first one was more memorable.

I’ve always wondered what happened to the boys in Lord of the Flies after they were rescued. Did they all go back to the same school as if nothing had happened? Imagine this scene playing out in the hallway:

“Hey, Ralph.”

“Hey, Jack.”

“Umm… you know… sorry about that thing, you know, killing your friends and trying to hunt you down like a wild pig and all that…”

“S’okay, it’s cool.”

I had only ever seen a single episode of Friends until moving back to the US in 2016. Now I’ve seen just about the whole series and love it. I would love to know what happens afterward. A reunion show would be much welcome, but there’s no chance from what I hear.

erm was I wrong in thinking that in summer of 42 that the boys weren’t even in high school yet ? I got the idea that they were 14 or 15 at the oldest … also according to the book oscy dies in the army in korea I think because the adult hymie was pissed off his cousin a dentist at am army base in Alaska got his medals instead of him …

It’s been decades since I watched it, but the Wikipedia entry puts Hermie at age 15.

They weren’t originally from the same school, but I suppose after a war like that they might have ended up together.

Frankly, I don’t picture Jack just going back to being a regular kid after that taste of power and blood. I think after a couple of years he would end up in a teenage gang, then running the gang, then becoming a scourge of the area. Some fat detective with glasses will finally arrest him and have him sent up for 30 years.
