Loving Eminem, Sia, CInematic Orchestra and more right now...and you?

I am not much of a fan of rap…I often enjoy the music, but the rapping usually bugs me, although there’s been exceptions - “Lose Yourself” being one, certainly.

I’ve been listening to “Recovery” for awhile now, and I love it. It’s a terrific album across the board. I love almost all of it, and the parts I don’t love are not terrible, just not my favorites. The Pink and Rihanna tracks are terrific, of course (I love Pink so much…) but the rest is great.

I’m really amazed at how much I love it.

I’m also currently very much in love with The Cinematic Orchestra “Man With a Movie Camera” - beautiful and mellow and cool. And SIa’s “We Are Born”, which has a fantastic cover of Madonna’s “Oh Father” that really shows exactly what’s wrong with Madonna as a singer… because it’s not that different from Madonna’s version, in terms of arrangement. But it’s a thousand times better, more satisfying. Just delicious. But of course I’m a huge Sia fan…she can kinda do no wrong.

If you’ve never heard her with Zero 7 on the KCRW album doing “Distractions” live…well, you haven’t lived. One of my all time faorite songs. (Along with “Closer”, among others…)

So what’s rocking your world musically right now?

And does anyone else love “Recovery” like I do? Particularly any 50-plus white women?
