What's your current favourite CD?

Mine’s the Clockwork Orange Soundtrack.

Let’s see now…I have quite a dearth of CD’s in my “collection” but I’d have to say my favorite at the moment is “Into the Raging River,” a collection of pieces by a composer named Steven Reineke, all played by the Washington Winds. I don’t think too many people have heard of Reineke since he writes music for concert band, but man he’s good.

311 - From Chaos

I’m currently going back and for between:

Rufus Wainwright - Poses
Cracker - Leftover Salmon (bluegrass covers of original Cracker songs, very fun)
Cowboy Bebop movie soundtrack

A local Orlando band I saw when I last visited home.

There for Tomorrow - Point of Origin

Tom Waits’ “Nighthawks At the Diner,” his 1974 double-LP live album.

For some time now, it’s been Steely Dan’s Two Against Nature. Not a bad track in the bunch, and they seem to have benefitted greatly from the long hiatus on this one. The followup (Everything Must Go) failed to impress me as much.

Currently I’m stuck on Alison Krauss and Union Station’s New Favorite.

I’ve been listening to it almost daily for several months, and it hasn’t even begun to grow stale. Stunning performances, vocals, songwriting and production.

In fact, I would call this one of the best produced albums I’ve ever heard. It’s pristine yet it’s not cold at all - it oozes warmth and musicality.

The new David Byrne, Grown Backwards.

For the last couple of weeks, it’s been Patti Scialfa’s 23rd St. Lullaby.

Presently, I alternate between the Lunar Silver Star Story soundtrack and the Shrek 2 soundtrack.

Wow. I’ve been looking for another 311 fan on this board for over 4 years. It’s the one instance where I was really starting to think I was the only doper.

Tilly and the Wall - Wild Like Children

Since I am young with no job and little dispensable income, illegal downloading hit me hard. Now I can only download free ones from various sites (legally) but it is severly limited. Tilly and the Wall was the first CD I can actually download for free and legaly, which helps raise the awesome points. I happen to love the fact that a struggling indie band would actually forfit profits off of one of their only incomes to provide fans with the goodness. So cool, in fact, I rave about them in a lot of situations to get them a wider fanbase and hopefully monetary support.

www.team-love.com - Just poke around and you shall find it!

Naomi Striemer -prerelease of her studio album… (got it at a live event at a local bookstore and haven’t listened to anything but this disc since I got it a week ago).

-DF

For past several weeks, I’ve been playing Prince’s Lovesexy in my car during my morning and evening commute. I can’t stop listening to it. Alphabet St. is the catchiest song of all-time.

Coheed & Cambria - In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3

Thrice - The Artist in the Ambulance

Bad Religion - The Empire Strikes Back

Strung Out - An American Paradox

Are some semi current CD’s that I really enjoy. Others range from about 10 years ago or so… and I still listen to them on occasion

A mix CD I whipped up called “The Really Good Shit, vol. II” soon to be followed by volume 3.

Paul Oakenfold’s Great Wall

Armin van Buuren’s A State of Trance 2004

Mogwai’s Happy Songs for Happy People

Pinkerton - Weezer. I have listened to it for a year, and I still love it.

Either Solefald’s In Harmonia Universali or Lacrimosa’s Fassade. Tough to choose.
