Not that this falls into the “savory” category, but now that the warm weather is upon us, I’m diggin’ Edy’s popsicles. 30 calories per, and they’re yummy. I can’t do them unless it’s warm out, though. It’s a mental connection that can only be made in summertime.
I’m usually on the lookout for similar items, and Trader Joe’s has been great for that. Lots of healthy(er) chip/snack options, plus other nontraditional options that are tasty. I particularly like the Japanese Sticky Rice Snacks. It’s that vaguely sour Asian rice, in cracker form with the slightest hint of sweetness to it.
Baked Lays
baby carrots
edamame
Laughing Cow
I eat these snack items by the truckload.
The green salsa that my mom makes for burritos has a little oil: the tomatillos, onion, and variety of green peppers/chilies are tossed with the flavoring mix: part of the tomatillos are blended with cumin, garlic, maybe a chunk of onion, and hot peppers. The tomatillos are just their to give the food processor something to work against. Then they’re either roasted- if it’s cold enough outside to justify turningon the oven- or stir-fried.
Other green salsas can have fat from avocado, but those seem to be less common.
French people do that with prunes. Fantastic.
Also, everyone thinks I’m nuts for this but I like carrot sticks with salt on them, just like a lot of people do with celery.
Yet another person repping Laughing Cow. Get the low fat stuff - it is amazingly creamy and tasty - in sharp contrast with how low-fat cheddar tastes. I’m currently working on the French Onion. Also, Jarlsberg comes in a delicious “light” variety. As small block will work well grated in a 2:1 ratio with some cheddar. Nuke the shredded cheese on 1/2 whole wheat tortilla, serve with light sour cream and (fat/oil free) salsa.
94% fat free popcorn is good too - but measure it after it’s popped! Most "baked"chips are pretty good - my favorite are the Baked Doritos.
Hummus, with whole wheat pita. Toast if you like crunch. The Weight Watcher whole-wheat pitas taste worse than garbage.
