Happy Toosday!
It’s cool out this morning, but it’s going to get up to 90 today.
Second day with no truck. It feels weird to walk out to the kitchen, look out the window, and NO TRUCK!
Nothing special to do today.

Back when I worked in Miami Beach and lived on the mainland, just across one of the bridges, I asked my boss to let me work 8-4 instead of 9-5. Saved me half an hour on that commute, up to two hours (!) on the afternoon one.
Howdy Y’all! I dusted and vacuumed. I also ran some errands. Now I’m back in da cave. ‘Tis all gloomy out so a good day to be inside and chillin’. I’m retired so I get to do that now.
Greetings! Slept all the way to 7am this morning, pretty much just hanging around awaiting the last roof estimator about 1030 am. After that lunch and perhaps some housekeeping, before the kid’s soccer practice. This is also photo day for the professional photographer, so of course we have a 15% chance of rain (when it comes to soccer practice, bet on the rain).

Re: 9/11.
I acknowledge the tragedy of the day. The loss of lives was and is appalling, and the heroic actions of a lot of people is worth recognition. But I also mourn the horrendous changes that our country has undergone as a result. A war based on faulty intelligence, the Patriot Act, Gitmo, etc., along with the rising tide of fear and anger in American politics. We as a nation seem to be hell-bent on destroying our own ideals, in response to an attack on those ideals.
Enough deep stuff. Mundane: In three decades of driving, I’ve hit a handful of squirrels and rabbits, one of the neighbor’s chickens, a turtle, a couple of snakes, an armadillo, and two deer. The armadillo did the most damage to a vehicle - highway speed, on a dark stretch of road, in a mid-sized sedan. Messed up the alignment something fierce.
Also mundane: my poor phone is on its last legs - glitchy, battery problems, etc. So I threw caution to the wind, and ordered a replacement phone instead of trying to replace the battery for the third time in a year. New phone was delivered this morning… minus the S-Pen and instruction manual. So now I’m waiting to hear back from the seller. I bought this as a new product, but now I wonder whether they sent a previous return, or a reconditioned, or what. So dang. (At least it’s an order handled through Amazon, not as a third-party. So I have some protection as a buyer.) [/First World Problems]
Better Amazon experience: after a week of hating the dress I bought for my brother’s wedding, I faced reality. Found this instead. Very much more my style. Will look fine with my boots, and I will actually wear it more than once.
Peaches, while I always have something decent for a fall or winter wedding, I always have to shop (and return) for new clothes for the summer ones.
Tis a blurfy Tuesday.
FWIW, Facebook has restored that post and, according to the author of the post, they told him that “they were looking into what had happened”.
¡PEPEEEEEE!
Hola
For any other style of wedding, any season, i have something appropriate in my closet - white tie in June, black tie in February, beach weddings, simple afternoon ceremony at the parsonage or Samhain handfasting under the moonlight.Seriously, I have an appropriate outfit and shoes. But country rustic, informal? I coulda probably scrounged up something, if i weren’t the groom’s sister.
I can’t dress more formally than the bride, so that leaves out my 3 favorite dresses - a LBD so perfect for everything that I bought one in my usual size, plus one size up and down. I’m not in the wedding party, so I couldn’t wear my favorite navy blue - too similar to the bridesmaids. But I’ll be in a lot of the photos, so my style needs to coordinate with the wedding style. I kinda wish the happy couple had just eloped, and had a party when they came home. (This far into the planning, my brother wonders why they didn’t do that!)
It doesn’t help that I’ve known the photographer for about 3 decades, and frankly don’t like her. And that I don’t like having pictures taken either. And that I’m supposed to learn a couple of country line dances with “the girls” before the big day.
Oh well. There will be drinks. And future SIL was kind enough not to invite me or any of the kids to be in the wedding party! (Seriously, when Littlest Miss found out that the party was gonna be at the pond house, her first question was whether she could go fishing. I can just imagine the shenanigans if she and her sister had been flower girls - and I won’t be a bit surprised if I catch them, the groom, and the best man sitting on the dock with fishing poles at some point during the reception!)
Hola!
I’m off to run errands involving the bank, the post office, propane and groceries.
This afternoon boy-child gets to ride the bus… he is not happy, but it will help us. The kiddos are at 2 different schools and they start/stop at almost the same time. I have bribed him by giving him 3 coupons good for “Mommy will play a video game with you”.
I am loving the weather. It gets down into the 40s at night. We open some windows and cool the house down. The highs are still in the 80s, but we’ve been able to not run the air conditioning because we cool the house so much. Rain possible again later in the week. Leaves are turning. I declare “Fall”!
That would be reason enough for me not to go, right there.
For the Roomies’ wedding, I am the only bridesmaid, so therefore I pretty much got to pick my dress with very little input from the bride other than “Do you like it? Then get it.” Of course, the dress was bought over two years ago. (We made a trip to look at wedding dresses two days after they got engaged. Roomie found her dress, I bought my dress because it was there, it fit me, I liked it, and it looked art-deco enough to go with their already-planned theme.) It still fits and it’s being professionally hemmed and tucked as we speak. I am trying to get the only real salon in town to pick up their effing phone so I can make appointments for hair and makeup on the day, but it’s a struggle.
Leftover dindin has been ingested. All the leftovers disappeared, thus new foods for tomorrow. It’s supposed to be dreary all day tomorrow accordin’ to TWPTB, so I took chikin outta da freezer for chikin ‘n dumplin’s which is a good dreary rainy day thing to eat. I am leanin’ towards flytrap’s favorite succotash as a side.
Oh and there’s ice cream for later.
Drae does your bridesmaid dress include a big ol’ butt bow. It ain’t a proper bridesmaid dress without one you know.
I hear it is edible with Brussels sprouts.
In a Facebook discussion of majano, an anemone that may sting fish or coral, a fellow mentioned killing them with super glue.
I asked him to elaborate; a drop of glue on the center, or completely encase the critter.
He replied he used a drop on the center mouth, “But one retracted into a hole, and I filled up the hole.”
I posted in return, “For the love of G-d, Montressor!”
Thanks to everyone for putting up with me yesterday. I was not in the best of moods.
I had a deer jump over the back of the Sportie, just brushing my back, as I rode past – about one mile from the stadiums. Ramp onto Marshall Ave from Rt 65. He was coming from a slight elevation but let me tell you ----- it sure solved any constipation issues I may have had! :smack:
From me that would rate an  . From more normal people like you it only rates an  if you dusted and vacuumed yourself!
I swept and mopped.
I completed two cards this evening and talked to Dad for a bit as well.
I needed this today. Very timely. Thank You.
