Company's coming in the MMP!!!!!!!

To clarify the title, this is about unexpected company, not new visitors to the MMP. Onward.

Our daughter is coming here late Thursday evening for her cousin’s wedding on Sat. That wasn’t unexpected - we’d made the plans some time back. The unexpected part is that she’s bringing her grandparents with her at FCD’s suggestion. He didn’t mention to me that he suggested it, but I found out last night when his mom called to say they were coming.

**FCD **is back to work this week. Guess who gets to ready TWO guest room before Thursday?? The blue room will be pretty easy since it’s the usual guest room. The green room, on the other hand, is my yarn stash, among other things. The futon is completely covered with stuff. Half the floor is covered with stuff. We took the closet doors down so I could access the stuff in the closet. THAT will be the challenge.

Make me feel less alone: How much of a panic would it be if you suddenly had 2 unexpected visitors coming to stay with you?

Yeah, yeah, happy Moanday.

First! It’s good to be juvenile!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up, caffeinated, and purtified, so no YAWN. We’re goin’ for brekkie to Waffle House cause OYKW has a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for a peekahn waffle.

MOOOOOOM I’d panic and then clean the place up. My worry would be mostly over what to feed everybody. I suppose intartoobz pizza would be out of the question after the first day. FCD would also be on the list for not tellin’ me sooner.

Ok, that’s all I got. I hear rumblin’s from the bedroom which indicates OYKW is now all purtified so we shall leave shortly.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Unexpected visitors? There’s a guest house round the corner, better hope they have room to accommodate folks! We don’t have any usable spare rooms in the house, the best offer would be an airbed on the living room floor but apart from that, you could try pitching a tent in the garden provided you’re willing to cut down the exterior jungle first.

Happy Moanday, mumpers!

Yeah, that popped into my head pretty quick. They’ll be arriving late on Thursday, so I don’t have to worry about that day, but I’ll need lunch meats and assorted real food. **FCD **and I have been mostly grazing at night.

Food Lion has whole chickens on sale, so I’m going to get 2 and smoke them on Firday - that’s one dinner. And I’ve got an extra dozen eggs because I forgot I’d bought some, so there will be egg salad. There are smoked brats in the freezer, and I can pick up some ground beef to make burgers - maybe we can cook out one day. And I need fresh veggies. Local corn is coming in, as are 'maters, so there’s a start.

Gonna be a fun week…

When I was back in Indiannoplace to funeralize, I stopped to visit with my MiL. I was sworn to secrecy about indefinite plans for a visit here before the summer is out.

I’ll believe it when I see it. They’ve been out exactly twice since we moved from Indiana in '03.

We’ve been here almost 11 years. I think my mother has been here 3 times? My sibs have come anywhere from 1 to 4 times. It’s too far to drive, they all say…

My inlaws, on the other hand, have made the trip from Florida at least 6 or 7 times. Interesting family contrast.

I have plenty of floor space so I wouldn’t panic. Gordie would freak out, though(He’s not big on new people).

I’m up, caffeinated, and off today. I need to make a beer run at some point.

I have a 3-Bedroom house, but one is my combination office-computer room, so only one room for guests. It’s pretty sparsely furnished, but a load of laundry and a good sweeping and it should be habitable. The sofa is capable of handling a full-sized human, but the 2-cushion one is full of books that I’ll get around to shelving/reading one of these days.

Anyway, this weekend I’ll be in Chatanooga for Liberty Con, and Science Fiction convention with two of my favorite authors (Eric Flint and David Weber) in attendance. Only a 3-hour drive, so I’m registered and hoteled starting Thursday night.

Now, if I can get my laundry done and lawn mowed before that…

From last week:

because I want to know ruble’s answer.
Other than that, blurf.

Cool hats.

Back from grocerying - I’ve got a couple of chickens that’ll get smoked on Firday and some burgers to do on the grill on Sunday. If we want something to eat when we get back from the wedding on Sat, I expect we’ll just order pizza.

Just found out from my niece that my mom is hosting a post-wedding party on Sunday. She didn’t invite us. Guess I know how we rate… :stuck_out_tongue:

I just don’t have unexpected visitors. I hate having them. My dad lives 2.5 hours away and my SO’s parents live 3.5 hours away, so there’s no drop ins, ever.

Went to see Train Friday night. Great show!

Let’s see, 2 in the guest room, 2 on the sectional, and a couple of folks on various air matresses. On the other hand, I hate having houseguests and would rather they stay elsewhere. My biggest panic would be the sorry state of the bathrooms. I hate it when TheElf invites new people over without letting me know and I don’t get a chance to clean the bathroom.

It’s Moanday.

Sorry to have been gone for so long, but phone issues left me disconnected for a while. (I normally browse SDMB from my phone when I’m at work with nothing to do.)

Anyway, going to the highlight reel for the past month or so: spent a week at my SIL’s house in Palm Beach, Fl for vacation (12 hour drive there and back was not fun), flew on a plane for the first time (LOTS of fun, if I win the Lotto I’m going to get my pilot’s license), lost my grandfather (that was hard) and that’s about it.

Hmm, I thought there would be more. Oh, well, we all can’t live Da Bear’s exciting lifestyle. Catch ya’ll later

Heya, Sario. Nice to see you again.

The house I live in now isn’t really suitable for having visitors. What I’d like to do eventually is get a decent apartment with an extra bed or a couch or something so my out-of-town friends can stay with me if they come to Montreal.

I’ve got too many pipe dreams.

I don’t like drop-ins either. I was raised that you call first, even if it’s spur of the moment. A bunch of years ago, two former cow-irkers dropped by unexpectedly. My home was a mess, I’d been lazing around because Sunday, I was still in PJs. So I joined them on the stoop for a bit and we had a visit. Two days later I get a nasty message on my voice mail about how rude I was for not inviting them in. That person is no longer my friend (her choice), the other one and I are still friends, because she realized they should have called first.

Howdy all! I just found out on Sat. that we have guests coming today. My hubby’s son and daughter in law will be here for a couple of days but they are staying in a local hotel as it should be. We do have one guest room but I will be happier with them staying elsewhere. They will be happier too since they are celebrating their second wedding anniversary. We will probably dine out with them each day.

And it’s Moanday! The weekend is never long enough. I have asked and gotten the OK to take the day off on Wednesday. I don’t know what I will do besides try to sleep in but a day in the middle of the week is different from a weekend day. It just feels different.

OK gotta get back to irk. Have a great week everyone.

I am starting to get a little worried about SARI.

So we have a scary faerie and a non scary faerie in the MMP. We can call you Fluffy.

Welcome back, Rio! And if you fill a closet with TP, you’re halfway to da Bear lifestyle.

“Fluffy” ? :dubious:

Iffn Mooommm took an oatmeal bath to get rid of the itchies last week, does that mean a Sutherner, like Swampy would take a grits bath to accomplish the same thing?
Does one take a spoon into the bath & to save time & multi-task by breakfasting & bathing simultaneously? ::insert Yeech smiley here::
If I had company coming, it would only take a few seconds to clean up & do some dusting. :o

On a plane for the first time, or on a private plane for the first time?
Sorry about Grandpappy.

Bear does live a gay ol’ life, doesn’t he.

Iffn this faerie isn’t scary like someone else we know, how about Glenda?
