Low fuel indicator light stays on, even after filling up… what could the problem be? 2001 Toyota Corolla
When you fill up with gas, does the fuel gauge register a full tank or does it stay on E as well?
registers full… gauge seems to be working properly
Little duck tape will fix that.
Almost certainly the low fuel switch is faulty. It’s part of the fuel tank sending unit, probably in the 150-200 range to replace.
What would fixing it accomplish, though, that merely using the gauge wouldn’t?
Make the light work the way it is supposed to?
I have a 1999 Toyota Sienna and it is loaded with stuff like this.
Parking brake light comes on when parking brake is not on
Driver’s seatbelt light comes on when seatbelt is being worn
Horn fails intermittently
Rear vent windows work sporadically
Perhaps Toyotas of that era have short-life switches.
Depending on your car that could indicate a serious failure of the braking system such as a master cylinder crack.
It’s the not brake warning light (which, IIRC, lights up on low fluid) but there is a light that is supposed to be on only when the parking brake is depressed, to help you remember not to drive with the parking brake on.
There are cars where that’s the very same light.
