LSD and Orange Juice

is it true that drinking orange juice will bring your trip back a little while after doing LSD? if so, how?

Vitamin C is the alleged active ingredient. In the 70’s, two doctors attempted to isolate compounds that would inhibit the effects of LSD and determined that vitamin C tended to decrease confusion and paranoia. I can’t attest to the legitimacy of the experiments and I don’t recall a proposed mechanism of pharmacologic action.

The folklore I heard years ago was niacin as the emergency vitamin dose if you needed to bring a trip down in a hurry. This seems to have been based on the idea that niacin causes the head to flush with blood, thus (supposedly) flushing the LSD molecules out of your brain. All I know is: a lot of niacin all at once makes your ears feel hot because of the sudden increased blood flow there.

This is not simply with LSD. A search on Google will show you that grapefruit and orange juice have boosting effects on many prescription and illegal drugs.

Niacin smoothens your trip (but diminishes the high). Chlorpromazine aborts the trip.
