“Ya shot first!”
Thank you for posting this, very well made and hilarious (the Old Boy and A-Team bits were really nice touches). And Lucas is cooler here than he ever has been.

“Open the blast doors! Open the blast doors!”
George Lucas hobby is fucking with the Star Wars films just to troll the internet.
Sweet zombie Vader! Futurama convergence dictates that the next set of Lucas revisions will overdub the recurring refrain “I’ve got a bad feeling about this…” with “We’re doomed! DOOOMED!”.
I like the references to the movie “Oldboy”, a really engrossing (and disturbing) movie about a quest for vengeance on unknown kidnappers…
I’m just glad that Lucas hasn’t screwed with Indiana Jones releases, like make swordman shoot first.
Just wait, he will. They have changed some things, like taking the cobra reflection out of the glass and changed a few backdrops in some scenes. I hope that’s all they do.
Remember, after the BluRay changes, he’s still got yet more changes to make in the 3D editions, then again with the inevitable 3D BluRay release.
I bet by 2020 the entire saga is entirely CGI with nary an actual actor in sight.
Read yes, post back to SDMB (whether as part of a quote or not) without breaking the word, no. Stupid filter immediately blocks the posting. (Work network filter; it’s very silly…)
NOOOOOOOO!
I’m pretty sure that needs an “Electric Boogaloo” in there somewhere.
Not much to add, but I thought I’d share this quote from a friend of mine. He contributed this gem to the conversation by way of a Facebook post:
Spielberg, I believe, has final decision on those movies. Obviously, he let Lucas in quite a bit on the fourth one.
Wait. I thought the cobra reflection was in the DVD.
The changed it? :looks it up:
Oh, they did. Weird.
Editing out the cobra reflection could be considered valid (delayed) post-shooting production work. You weren’t supposed to see it in the first place. That’s nothing like Lucas’ content changes.
Yeah, it’s weird that they did it, but it is nothing like what Lucas is doing. I really wish he’d just start over with a new series and, at most, let others make Star Wars movies.
I’m not sure what all the complaining is about. I think the changes are all for the best. I mean, take a look at this promotional still from the re-release. Honestly, how can anyone say these changes are not making the movies any better?
You’d think he’d want to try to fix up everything he hated on the Holiday Special!
Can anyone tell me what this is about? Thanks.
In Raiders, the scene where Indy faces a cobra - there is a visible reflection in the pane of glass that separated Harrison Ford from the snake. Presumably someone messed up with the angle of the polarizing filter they’d have used to cut it out, or it just didn’t filter enough of the reflection - but the glass was not meant to be visible, in the context of the movie Indy is inches away from a venomous snake. Why does it always have to be snakes?
