Somehow, I knew this thread was about the William Shatner cover of the song before I clicked on it. Given that I just heard the William Shatner cover last week on the radio, I don’t think I’ll click the link… thank you very much.

It’s very scary… I plan on shocking my poor Sister with it later. 
I, too, saw the thread title and knew immediately it was about Shatner’s travesty of a cover. I’ve had that on my hard drive for years and I play it every once in a while to crack myself up.
I taped a Dr. Demento show years ago that featured Trek songs, half an hour’s worth, including Nimoy’s “Highly Illogical” and Shatner’s “Lucy…” That’s one of my most treasured cassettes.
I have an album by Leonard Nimoy with such classics as “The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins,” “Gentle on My Mind,” and “If I Were a Carpenter.”
Shatner’s cover of “Mr Tambourine Man” is similarly amusing, particularly when he shouts out “MISTER TAMBOURINE MAN” at the top of his voice during the chorus.
Somewhere in my collection of vinyl I have several of Nimoy’s albums and a copy of Shatner’s “The Transformed Man.” I have also seen, but don’t think I have a copy of, a video of Shatner performing (notice I do not say singing) “Rocket Man.”
Hang on, there is always the possibility of profit.
If we can take over the Dish Network satellites and beam this stuff down from space…How much ransom can we get? I figure a couple of billion, despite this aluminum foil hat stuff.
