Split from the What were you Thinking? thread.

Maybe now I should be “The Most Extreme Poster on the Board”!
Extreme posting! Extreme criticism of billionaires! Extreme denunciations of exploitation! Extreme thread spinoffs!
EXTREME MILD JOKES AT THE EXPENSE OF OTHER POSTERS!
What, like prison rape? Personally I prefer justice to mob retribution, but you do you.
Extreme straw men! Awesome! Keep it going!
That kind of is how criminal justice works, except that we have a trial first to make sure the person is guilty. Mob ire is rarely proportionate or well directed.
Extreme non sequiturs! Tubular! Totally radical!
What did you mean by your statement, then? Abusers are unlikely to fear abuse unless some of them do indeed suffer it. And it’s unlikely to change their behaviour unless it is a consequence of their own actions. Many abusers have indeed previously suffered abuse, and it doesn’t stop them. So who is creating this fear and how? God? Karma?
Why are they realizing this?
Because God reached into their hearts and softened their hearts, reverse pharaoh style?
Because they watched a movie about the French revolution?
If so, great.
Moved to new thread.
Because our country has deteriorated to the point where they genuinely fear for their lives?
If so, that’s very bad.
This is similar to @Babale’s point about the billionaires. Billionaires fearing for their lives pretty much implies a lot of extremely undesirable things have happened and are happening in our society.
This might be an interesting question, but it’s separate from my stated opinion. I haven’t said anything about the why, very deliberately. I’ve just said that it would be a good thing. And I’m pretty sure you agree. I’m pretty sure everyone but these billionaires and other sociopaths agree, in fact.
Their actions will be the cause of the country deteriorating to the point where they genuinely fear for their lives.
If we’re speaking of spherical cows, I guess it is.
The why is extremely important.
Would world peace be a good thing? Yes or no? One word answers only.
What if the reason that there’s world peace is that white supremacists killed everyone else? Oh, suddenly it’s not good? I’m pretty sure you agreed earlier?
I definitely don’t agree that every scenario in which billionaires are fearing for their lives and therefore changing their behavior is a good thing.
If you think your extreme position is one that everyone but evil billionaires and sociopaths agree with, your judgement seems lacking.
Another extreme straw man! Totally bitchin’!
I’ll give a little hint - right now, right at this moment, with nothing else changing in this world, it would be a good thing if…
Power corrupts. Countess Báthory Erzsébet is an exception that proves the rule. She was one of the few rich and powerful criminals who was made to face justice. It’s distressing to contemplate how many others must have escaped justice and no one has ever heard of their crimes. We’ve seen by now plenty of examples of massive coverups of crime that were exposed only because the victims were able to make their voices heard.
He did give a why:
It’s not exactly clear how that makes billionaires and CEOs fear for their lives, but IIRC, in other threads he advocated for the Democrats to blame problems on rich people, in their messaging.
Are you purposefully being obtuse?
Yes, the mild way you’re phrasing this now, after you e backpedalled, is not extreme.
What yous aid earlier:
Absolutely was.
I’ve explained the difference multiple times. If you’re still not interested in engaging, I’m confident it’s not because I’ve failed to clearly state my position.
I’ll repeat my initial statement: DemonTree was not unreasonable for calling your initial, quite extreme, statement extreme.
Cough Epstein files cough.
Extreme misinterpretation! Extreme insistence at mind reading, and extreme ignoring of my repeated explanations of my intentions for my own words!
Dope as FUCK! This thrill ride will never end!
Cool, I’m glad to know where we stand.
I’m sure you’ll now start telling people the only reason I disagree with you is because I’m a bad faith troll, too. Have fun with that; I’m done engaging.
He could just admit he was being hyperbolic and didn’t really mean it, but no. Maybe in another 4 years…
