lunatics look up

Who is going to view the lunar eclipse tomorrow night?
I saw one once around the summer of 88 or 89.
I want to see it turn orangish, and my son has never seen one.

How about the lunatics that are in my head?

I’ll be out watching as soon as I get home from work. My library is doing a live webcast of it, weather permitting. If anyone wants the link, I’ll post it.

woot, a lunar eclipse on my birthday=) I will definitely be out looking, about what time is optimal?

Starts at 9:15, peaks at 10:30.
Happy Birthday!

For which time zone?

Eastern.
I saw the asker was in Connecticut.

I shall view the eclipse, assuming I don’t forget. I think this is the fourth straight total lunar eclipse, though IIRC the last one could not be seen from the U.S.

So cool.
It turned orange. :o
It was my son’s first.
And it was really warm out.

Darn! I only just found out that an eclipse just happened!

I saw my first lunar eclipse when I was in high school, on a Girl Scout canoe/camping trip. We were in the middle of nowhere on the edge of a lake, and none of us even knew that an eclipse was due that night. Then the moon started disappearing. We stayed up very late that night watching it disappear and reappear. It was so cool, especially since there was virtually no light pollution to affect it.

DARN those weather gods!! Darn them straight to HECK!!!
It’s been cloudy here pretty much all day, so I didn’t really think I’d get to see the eclipse, but just before it started, the skies were (almost) completely clear. Just a few little cirrus off to one side, no big thang. But by the time the dragon had swallowed about 1/2 the moon, it clouded over pretty much solid. But not everywhere! The news station 15 miles away had a completely unobstructed view. “But hey!, don’t worry, they’ll break over your location soon enough, just keep watching.”
So I did. and the skies cleared up just in time for me to watch the dragon finish puking the moon back out!

Sorry about the mini-rant, but it’s happened the last 3 times!
