Wring,
If you will re-read my post, you will see that I agree with you. I said I prefered 14K over 10K.
My point was your earlier comment on 10K vs. the real stuff. Sorry, I thought perhaps you thought 10K was like gold-filled or plated stuff. You would be amazed at the idiotic stuff people thought they knew about jewelry…well, I guess since you worked in the jewelry business, you would know exactly what I mean.
My pet peeve was the people who insisted 18K was “better” than 14K. I would be more than happy to sell them 18K wedding bands, since they were more expensive, but when they asked my opinion on wear, I would tell them the truth about each type’s durability. We didn’t even keep the 10K rings in stock, only 14 & 18.
I also hated dealing with the women who bought bangle bracelets and returned them a month later with a dent (or two), saying the dent MUST have been there when she bought it, because other wise how would it get dented? She certainly didn’t dent it!
Or how about the people who get their filthy rings cleaned for the first time in 10 years, are amazed at how sparkly they are, and immediately accuse us of switching stones?
Or someone who has inherited her mom’s rings, and just because they bought it from us 20 or more years ago, expect us to re-size it now for free?
But I digress…this is for a retail gripe thread.
Never mind!
