Lyndon LaRouche 2020?

This is more of a thought experiment. No matter what happens to the DNC over the next few years I’m hard pressed to see a fringe figure like LaRouche getting nominated. When it comes down to it I would rather think of unconventional politicians or those who aren’t marching in a predictable line to be media darlings than hear names like Chelsea Clinton, Mark Zuckerberg, and Oprah Winfrey constantly surface.

Who would win: LaRouche or Trump win in 2020? LaRouche seems he can make the case of his anti-imperalism track record, with a vision of economic nationalism that sounds familiar to what advisors like Bannon were tapping into, and unlike the current administration LaRouche could claim a curiosity for innovative science, some actual scientific literacy superior to this anti-intellectualist burgeoning kakistocraty. LaRouche has baggage with conspiracy theories, which luckily is also a blight with Trump. LaRouche could make inroads with a lot of voters thanks to his strident support for single payer health care, where Trump is showing to be beyond fickle on this issue. But LaRouche's past baggage could still be too much to overcome. One's answer could fluctuate wildly wondering how much investigation and litigation there will be against Trump by 2020.

Call me crazy, but being 97 years old on election day 2020 might give some voters pause.

Isn’t it time we had a centenarian President? Yes we can! I’m with grandpa!

Wrong Clinton. It’s Hillary’s nomination to lose.

If LaRouche got the Republican nomination she might be able to beat him. But after '16, I wouldn’t bet the farm on it.

In terms of craziness, LaRouche makes Trump look like William F. Buckley. That is, not without crazy ideas, but also not someone who is a half-step from living under a bridge and shouting at pidgeons.

There are some crazy Trump lovers who might like LaRouche, but not enough to get him a win

Trump couldn’t have won with JUST his true believers! He needed millions of ordinary Republicans willing to say, "Maybe he won’t be so bad… at least he may give us a conservative Supreme Court… " For those voters, LaRouche is intolerable.

He’d be better than Hillary. That’s as good as it gets.

I thought larouche died in jail a decade or two ago …

I’ve never really heard of the old nutter being personally accused of malfeasance a la Nixon, Trump or Hillary. However, having read some of the historical narratives put out by the Schiller Institute I would have supported his incarceration on general principles.

Sorry about something, I have to dial back my comment about C. Clinton, Winfrey, and Zuckerberg, since I’m now realizing LaRouche has never been elected to public office.
While true, he was the founder of a significant political party. Given some of his flagrant ethical missteps I really couldn’t plead someone like him being far more worthy of a conversation than perhaps a Zuckerberg.

I disagree with the term “significant.” He was a magnet for the usual gang of cranks and nuts. When the Illinois Democratic party fell asleep at the wheel in 1986 and let two LaRouche followers win their primaries, the voters laughed while voting Republican.

In 2004, he bought 30 minutes of local TV airtime and in so doing, preempted a rerun of the Simpsons on that particular day.

I still consider it a war crime.

I want LaRouche to run just so I can see more of those crazy (but hilarious) commercials he used to air.

I would add Zuckerberg to a list of “least impressive American billionaires” that is headed by Trump. What skills or experience does the facebook founder have that would translate into a successful presidency?

A LaRouche supporter won a Democratic primary for a state rep or state senate seat here in Michigan the same year that those two did so in Ill. The Democratic governor (Jim Blanchard) offered to campaign for the Republican.

“Build 50 nuclear power plants right now - if we have to melt down the neon signs on the whorehouses to do it.”

After the last two years, this dude doesn’t seem so crazy anymore, does he?

Um, he still seems so crazy to me.

Ah, but what if Trump and Pence both get impeached and President Pelosi then resigns in favor of Hillary Clinton, so that LaRouche has to face an incumbent President in the primaries? And what if Jay-Z wins the Libertarian nomination and picks Roy Moore as his running mate? What then??

If you promise to take me to the most duck-filled pond I’ve ever sat by, I’ll vote for him.

Who would be LaRouche’s running mate? Given LaRouche’s age, I would imagine the second person on the ticket is going spend more time being president.
