I’d like to switch to Lynx, but I would like step by step instructions for installing it on WinMe. I’ve downloaded it, but how do I set it up?
-
Are you aware of what you’re doing, there? Lynx is a text-only browser.
-
If it is text-only browsing you want, this site has a version of lynx for Win32 with full install instructions. Alternately, turn off images in IE.
-
If you’re just pissed at IE, there’s always Mozilla Firefox or any number of alternatives.
Are you serious? Here is a site .
Really. Are you kidding or what? Why would you switch to lynx versus using it for a specific task?
And, if you are serious, you’re geeky enough to use a text browser. You’re geeky enough to use dvorak layout. But you’re not geeky enough to google for installation instructions?
Part of me thinks this is a joke.
leenmi: Lynx link jinx!
Not joking, just lamebrained of me.
Thanks for the resource - and for the kick in the head. I needed that.
I swear his answer wasn’t there when I posted mine. And I didn’t mean my answer to be as snarky as it sounded. I apologize.
htns, don’t leave us in suspense. Why are you switching to a text browser?
I just download Lynx, and I must say, the Straitdope sure looks interesting this way.
Opera, the goddess of all browsers, can emulate text-only browsers. I kind of like it sometimes. Not much, though.
