Just winging it, here, but wasn’t it The Little Colonel, in which Shirley Temple does a soft-shoe routine on the stairs with Bill “Bo Jangles” Robinson?

unfortuanately no… we thought that too and bought the movie, but found that it was lacking that particular scene (unless it’s been edited out)
[aside]
Shirley Temple was such a professional as a child that when the lighting crew fired up the lights she would walk to her mark and feel how the lights felt on her face. This enabled her to hit her mark without looking at it when filming. No-one involved with Shirley taught her the technique, they couldn’t even copy it from her.[/aside]
Puzzling. Are you saying that The Little Colonel doesn’t have the “stair dance” scene? That’s definitely the movie in which it occurs: http://www.moviesunlimited.com/musite/frameset/index.asp?frame=product.asp&sku=042818++. Or is it some other scene that we’re looking for, here?
It could also be The Littlest Rebel, in which Temple and Robinson also do a number of dance scenes, including a “Polly Wolly Doodle” duet.
(BTW, this whole thread is painful for me, since I can’t stand Shirley Temple!)
its another scene. shirley is dancing in a street with a black man and thier singing. goes something like “nya nya nya nya”
This site says The Littlest Hobo which isn’t a Shirley Temple Film. They must mean The Littlest Rebel.
According to the IMDB, she made four films with Mr. Bojangles. Other than the one already mentioned, she made:
-Just Around the Corner (also called Lucky Penny and Sunnyside Up.
-The Littlest Rebel
-Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm
I remember that scene from MAS*H. He did some steps and sang “nya nya nya” and then she copied him.
Haj
And judging by the period costumes I seem to recall, I’ll put my money on The Littlest Rebel, along with Jeff Olsen.
'Tain’t easy, finding someone who’s an expert on MAS*H trivia and on Shirley Temple trivia. Strange brew!
The first part of this may be true, but I doubt the veracity of the second part.
The spot where the lights are concentrated and brightest is known as “the sweet spot” and is well-known to all actors, stage and screen and television too. Many actors are said to have the ability to find the sweet spot intuitively.
Surely you can’t be serious. For someone who exhibits an encylopaedic knowledge of all things Shirley, I would say you are quite enamored with the gal.
No, I’m just reasonably proficient at googling. And stop calling me Shirley!!!
Bravo Early Out!
